These threads backfire 100% of the time.

What trophy presentation was there prior to the BCS?
Every team that has ever won an AP National Championship was awarded an AP National Championship Trophy in the year in which it was won. This goes all the way back to 1936..... its obviously quite different than having some computer 50 years later calculate your team as being the best during an era before computers existed.

You didnt know who won the national title officially till the polls came out after the bowl season
Typically you knew who won immediately following that team's bowl game. Sure there were years like 1983 that you had to wait until the next morning, but are you telling me that when Alabama beat Miami in 1992 in New Orleans, all of Bama nation went to bed without knowing they had won the National Title? Of course not. In most years, everyone knew.
Even in the rare occasion in which multiple teams may have thought they'd have a shot (such as 1983), you still were presented the trophy within a day or so. Are you really trying to claim that having to wait 12 hours for a poll to be released is the same as finding out 50 years later that some obscure computer formula named your team the best?
Really. This is idiotic.

No, an ignorant child is someone who thinks the Dunkel formula picking his team as the best and being recognized for it 50 years later is the same as being presented an AP National Championship Trophy the morning after a big bowl game win.

Yeah, I dont claim 93. I think a pissed the frick off Spurrier would arse raped us in a rematch.
I was at the 1993 AU-UF game. We got very fortunate with a 99 yard pick 6 when UF was about to go up 21-0 and instead it became 14-7. Then Weurfel made a lot of mistakes, but he was a true freshman in his first road game and after the pick six JH went into a frenzy the rest of the game that would have rattled anyone. We would have been fricked in a neutral field rematch with Weurfel having a full season under his belt.
Then there is FSU who was even better than Florida.

I assure you prior to the BCS there was no national championship trophy awarded immediately after the game

BS. The Bowl Coalition started in 1992 which was why we had Bama and Miami. Prior to that each conference had a tie in for their champion so 1 vs 2 was rare that is why there were so many split titles and you didnt know which poll was going to vote which way. In most years, you DIDNT know. Bama went to bed after the 1967 Sugar Bowl thinking they at least won one poll only to find out the next day they won neither. This happened a lot

You said immediately after the bowl game, not within a day or so

That wasnt what I said. I was correcting your knowledge of college football history

This type of thing is a joke.
I agree. I mean someone like you would agree that Arkansas, who went undefeated, and beat the team that slapped Alabama around like a cheap whore, should have a claim on that national title. I respect you for saying th... oh wait.
Well. Never mind.

If your school was awarded a NC by an organization recognized by the NCAA in the years you claim, then yes you should claim a NC.

Unfortunate but true players play better if a game has championship implications...
Posted on 5/4/18 at 5:31 pm to thirdlawson
Go ahead and claim them. Don't really see why anyone should care one way or another.
Posted on 5/4/18 at 5:32 pm to BoCam2
Would Joe Namath had played more if the bowl game had championship implications? Selah
Posted on 5/4/18 at 5:40 pm to thirdlawson
At least 3. 1964, 1965, and 1978.

Bama got recognized in 41...killed the #2 in the bowl... other top teams lost or dnp...

wasn't that the game Alabama's Joe Namath had an injured knee leading up to the game. And then, he actually scored the game winner, but because of the absence of instant replay, he wasn't awarded the game-winning TD.

BUT I really feel Auburn SHOULD claim 1983 and 2004. Could say 1993 too...but not as much as the first 2.
Wow. Just 2 huh? Congrats.

Yes.. referees said td..fans ...one cheating ref overturned the call..Tommy Nobis..Texas middle linebacker in later years admitted Namath scored .. Bear told Namath don't leave any doubt... Namath played a little over a qtr...game with Championship implications he starts...and bama undefeated national champs
