I think they could increase the field to 64 and there would still be pearl clutching over the last one in/first one out.

That’s my thing. No one can complain about shite now that it’s 12 team.
You lost 2-3 times. Cry me a river that you’re not in the playoff.
Teams I feel bad for are the ones that literally couldn’t have done anything different (because they went undefeated) and don’t get a shot.
Yep - agree, which is why even though I don't love this format or having 12 teams I do like the fact that there will never be another team like the type you mentioned that will be left out of things again.
But the race for the last at large bid is equivalent to the NCAAT bubble. You always want to get in, and you might think (or even be right) that your flaws/positives are better than the others competing against you, but being in that spot means you've done more than your share of screwing up. If you don't get in, you aren't getting screwed. Period.

I mean if you assume that the home field gets you 3-4 points, and Bama only won by 2, then technically USCe is the better team head to head.

Same guy who spent the past 3 years saying Trump could never be President again.

win on the road @ #12 provides enough justification
Apparently not. Like I said they’d have moved them ahead of Bama if they were going to do it.

Yea but that one road win was YUGE.
Do you realize how hard it is to go into Death Valley on Saturday night and pound the home team by 29 points, after they had won about 30 straight home games? That's what really wowed the CFP committee. That was an awesome, awe inspiring, scintillating, stellar performance!
