Final Decision On USC/Georgia Game Location:

Nikki Haley has stated that she will not offer any State Troopers for the game amid preparations for Hurricane Matthew. The exact date and kickoff time are expected to be finalized on Thursday, but the game is confirmed to take place at Williams-Brice Stadium by The University of South Carolina.

quote:

“The University of South Carolina and its athletics department are continuing to monitor the movements of Hurricane Matthew as it relates to the scheduled football game with the University of Georgia. We are in communication with the National Weather Service, state and local authorities and the SEC regarding potential weather issues. We anticipate a decision about the game to be made on Thursday. The safety of everyone affected by the storm and the minimization of the impact on emergency personnel are the most important factors in making the decision. The USC vs. UGA game will be played in Columbia. Currently, kickoff is still slated for 7:30 pm Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.”

Was the only choice if Georgia State refused to move their game. May have to have it's date changed though.

There was one UGA fan bitching about this in an earlier thread. Most of us don't really care as long as the game is played Saturday. We'd really prefer not to have to play next weekend with a short week of practice (even though it is Vandy). I'm just hoping the storm shifts east so this ends up not being a big deal and that everyone in South Carolina is able to stay safe.

Hurricane Matthew won't have as large of an effect on the Midlands according to the recent models. That's why they seem to want to go ahead with the game as scheduled. Seems to me that the coast is the main part of the state that will suffer.

I doubt many UGA fans are concerned about us at all right now.

Why would they? Wasn't this game already scheduled as a home game for USCe before the season started? Not sure I follow why anyone would "melt" about a game being played as scheduled.

I guess you missed the LSU fans posting a lot of threads about their game with Florida not being moved.

Suck it up puppy fans.

Y'all gonna have to play in a place y'all haven't won since 08 and your hotel reservations probably won't be honored.

Evacuation traffic, empty gas stations, and hotels not honoring reservations is the only thing that will concern UGA fans.
