Currently tied for 1st in the High Jump finals. Both him and the NZ jumper are tied and didn't clear 2.38m, but have the same number of misses, meaning they could chose to split the gold medal or have a jump off.
McEwen shook his head and basically said "frick that we're jumping."

I don’t think they care about the actual physical gold in the medal. They want to win.

When you guys tie for first in the Olympics, you can decide what you want to do.
It is funny, people and teams are ridiculed on here when they claim a shared division or conference championship.

He's already got a gold with a tie, so he wanted to say, I was the best in the world during this Olympics, he could not say that however, so he went for it.
