Well if they aren't hiring someone until May that gives them plenty of time to put together a committee.
I don't see the problem. The AD won't matter until its time to fire Butch about a year from now.

We have to hire several coaches right now. Unfortunately we aren't replacing Lyle yet

This just doesn't inspire me with confidence. There is an obvious choice and everyone wants him. He went to UT and kicked arse at Chat. Whey the hell do we need a SJW who reportedly doesn't even like athletics input?
Why does UT frick up every hire? its pathetic. Honestly Lyle doesn't deserve any sympathy but it is ridiculous to expect him to be able to manage the football program and its departures without a boss helping him out.

That's what all the beat reporters keep saying despite the drawn out process. Now suddenly Barnes, Jones, Warlick are supposedly pushing for Gilbert out of the blue. I'm starting to think the beat guys are far more out of touch on this hire than they have been on anything in a long time -- don't even know if I believe the rumor about Gilbert or the coaches wanting him at this point. It wouldn't make much sense for them.

Dave Hart publicly announced in August that he would be stepping down. Very likely that the people in charge knew this earlier.
We are now in January, and we have just now started to put together a search team for our new AD. 5(!) months they've sat around and done absolutely nothing. The heir to the god damn throne is 90 miles away and they are going to do everything in their power to frick it up and not hire Blackburn.
Butch is in desperate need of assistance from a compete AD to put together his staff, and he has nobody. Recruiting is going to be awful again next season, and we are going to be right back where we were with Dooley (a good QB, a couple of very good receivers, a few RBs, and literally nothing else).
Investing time and money into this institution really is futile lol
