a) an 18 year old consensually exchanging dirty pics with his 17 year old girlfriend
b) or the actually really bad kind

Hopefully "child porn" in this case means he got nudes from some freshman girl who didn't turn 18 until mid-September.

Agreed. Child porn is a pretty broad term. One deserves a deep, dark prison cell and the other really shouldn't be something that ruins someone's life.

This, I mean technical it's a felony for HS kids to exchange nudes with another HS classmate. Could have been something like that was still left on his phone or on his cloud storage that he forgot about that may have been discovered somehow?
