I disagree, I think they were fricked either way. Stay with same philosophy with an interim or change the entire team thinking 4 months before the season starts with a new coach.

With an interim at least they know the playbook but will lack the x's and o's knowledge of Petrino, which I hate to admit, is pretty fricking outstanding.

With a new coach, they have to learn a new team philosophy, which isnt easy to do between April and kickoff.

So like I said, they were fricked either way.

I was worried about the Arkansas game before. Now as long as LSU beats Alabama we'll be in the BCSNCG. The luck of Lester Miles never ceases to amaze me

Spoken like a true tuba player. Arky will be a threat as long as Tyler Wilson is in the game.
Still waiting to see pics of you in your band uniform. Heard those were real chick magnets.

I'd have selective hearing too, I'm pretty sure the other 90% of what they have to say is calling you out for being a tool.

Ask Ohio State how easy an interim higher was. Even though they had all those players out they were still more talented than Arkansas was last year.

Not sure about Ohio State's higher but the interim hire Luke Fickell worked out great, allowing them to shop for a coach all season and ink Meyer early. Meyer was then able to get a waiver to recruit while the current staff prepared for a bowl game. Compound the timing of waiver with the Penn State meltdown and Ohio State did very very well (4 of the 5 blue chips that had verbaled to Penn State landed in Columbus)

Probably smart not to rush into a mediocre hire. I had them going 9-3 next season even with Petrino (losses to Alabama, LSU, and South Carolina). I think they'll lose a couple more now (A&M, Auburn, and maybe another one here or there).

Taking a quick look at their schedule:

Jacksonville State - Win
UL-Monroe - Win
Alabama - Loss
Rutgers - Win
@ Texas A&M - Loss
@ Auburn - Loss
Kentucky - Win
Ole Miss - Win
Tulsa - Win
@ South Carolina - Loss
@ Mississippi State - Win
LSU - Loss

7-5...maybe 8-4. That back to back road stretch to Auburn, Texas A&M and South Carolina, Mississippi State will be a bitch. They could split both series and go 8-4.

It's really not that unrealistic.

Yall were not beating LSU or Alabama even with Petrino.

Road games to South Carolina, Auburn, Texas A&M (Dallas I'd assume), and Mississippi State are all going to be difficult. If they were in Fayettville, I'd obviously feel differently. Those are some tough road games man.

It's a shame yall didn't have Alabama and LSU on the road and have some of these tossup/more winnable games at Arkansas.

I would put little credence in what the coaching scoop claims is or is not going to happen.

They had claims Penn State was offering a record breaking deal to both Saban and Miles. In light of what had happened with Sandusky Penn State could not have made a splash hire with a rock star coach and not take the media hit "of putting football first"

In reality the guys Penn State did talk to were all connected to Ivy type football programs

No team has surpassed the Rantards expectations like Arkansas has the past few seasons. People just can't wait for Arkansas to return to The Nutt decade.

Those of you hoping for a meltdown and 7-5 season from Arkansas are going to be disappointed. A&M, AU, and USC still aren't in Arky's league, and LSU/Bama are still going to have to bring their A game to Fayetteville if they want a W.

Dismiss this opinion, though, I know it gets in the way of your giddiness over your ignorant predictions.
