I won't pretend to understand how Kenpom rankings work.

But, Bama won't be at the bottom of the SEC. There will be hiccups, but Oats will have a good first year.

Nothing to be looked at seriously atm. Will be interesting to see a week or two before conference play starts.

Kenpom says you win by 8 so you are fine.

Kenpom has never been wrong in the 2020 season.

Went through the sEC teams exhibition games I could find and didn't find many interesting things.

UGA struggled a bit with a DII school and a bad UNC-Charlotte team.

MSU inched past what should be a good South Alabama.

A&M really struggled with DII Texas A&M-Kingsville (but started some walk on white kid?)

I know we beat LT by 13, and Baylor by 12 (closed scrimmage).

Whole lot of teams just played nobodies (DII types) to warm up.

I don't think they are really worthy taking serious even when you have two decent teams playing. Too many times coaches are trying something really different because they know it doesn't matter.

Yeah it seemed like we were subbing in and out with almost every stoppage on play. It like we were practicing how to check in at the scorers table.

Arkansas didn't even start our second best player the first game.

It is more about finding rotations that work, so the exhibition games are always more out of rhythm because of the more than normal level of subs.

Kenpom doesnt really factor is frosh, transfers, or players who havent logged very many minutes. So if bama has any of those that could be why

Not to mention an entirely new system

That ranking would probably be appropriate if Johnson was back and we were doing the same ole thing with the same players.

KenPom made a few tweaks to his preseason system. Obviously returning contributors, proven transfers and top 30 freshmen are weighted heavily but for teams that don’t have those it is now heavily weighted on past success/history of the coach,
