You are missing that teams leaving 1 conference have to be independent 5 years before going to another conference, nobody is doing that.
I think the 20 team cap kills expansion more than anything. The sec benefits none from southeastern expansion(clem Miami fsu). Sec was only considering southeast expansion bc you can’t let the big have the Greenville, Tallahassee and Miami markets(huge cfb markets in sec country). Now that the big is blocked from southern expansion those schools value dropped again.
