Under the radar....Oklahoma's 73-0 win over Arky State may not seem much on the surface

but, the Sooners could've scored 100. ASU doesn't have a good team, but none of the cupcakes who got eaten this past weekend were much good, either. Thing is, I think OU could be the sleeper of all the top 25 teams and be much better than people are realizing.

Looks like another year (and the last) that Texas doesn't win the Big 12.

Oklahoma could have scored 200 Saturday, but I can assure you no one is getting excited in Norman because we were all excited last year after the first few games.

Some things looked different on both sides of the ball which is good, but we won't know anything probably until we see Texas.

I can't remember how many times Texas opened the season this way only to get sodomized a few weeks later in the RRR. OU and Ole Miss both need to throw the opener in the trash and get back to work.

OU looked crisper than they usually do early season against a lousy opponent. That is all you can really say about the game.

SMU is not a bad team and that's who is up next. Arkansas State was pretty much on par with all the garbage teams that the majority of the SEC teams got in week one and they all had similar results.

You predicted blowout wins for TCU and LSU, so I am inclined to believe you.

Will move forward with cautious optimism.

Gonna have to show improvement in some areas in week 2.

Pass rush was not great but their QB got the ball off quick so not sure what we have there.

Busts in the secondary that a decent QB would have exploited.

Wait and see approach for me

OU, Ole Miss, A&M, Texas, Alabama, Oregon, etc... Week 1 told a lot of teams absolutely nothing.

That’s the score of a frightened coaching staff trying to prove they have big dicks.

Yep. There are high school teams that could beat Arkansas State. Pathetic.

OU has the easiest schedule in the Power 5. They’ll get to 12 wins without blinking.

But they would be an 8 win team in the SEC West.

Its early. I will say, BV played 87 players. And we did what we should. Played 4 qbs. Dillion did great as starting qb he’s healthy and in his last year but 2nd year in system and it showed.

Defensive schemes under BV are not easy to learn and that cost some close games last year. But with another year things looked different.

What impressed me most was true fresman 5*+ qb Jackson Arnold going 11-11 for 1 TD and running 5-39 for another TD. This kid is really good and was ranked as a top qb for a reason. That 11-11 was most completions without a miss by a freshman since 1942 when another qb went 9-9 (at OU not nationally).

Mostly vanilla play though. We did what we shoulda done and many others playing cupcakes can’t say the same.

No idea what it all means. I do know amd have said that 6-7 record could have been 11-3 with just a few plays - all losses by 3 points including FSU. We lead FSU most of game too. But the point is there were signs if one follows the team. Record is what final scores were but it was not gloom and doim as some predicted by looking only at record.

We didn’t punt til 2 min left in game. New punter so needed to get him some work lol.

Lots of work to do. Way too early to really know what we have. My eyes tell me much better with lots of young players making plays. The WR group is vastly improved. New WR coach is not only recruiting great but he has that squad playing way better. Another note, we brought back Schmitty as conditioning coach and he got rid of that crap P90 stuff Riley had. Our Dline now has 5 300 pounders vs 1 last year. Massive strength improvement across the board.

Time will tell. In the thread here to pick your team record I had us 11-1 and sticking with it. We’ll see though.

There are also high school teams that wouldn't have allowed their quarterback to get sacked by Rice's defense too...

Multiple times. PATHETIC

We gave up 3 sacks to Louisiana-Monroe last year and then beat OU 49-0.

They'll coast through that basic Big-12 schedule and then get annihilated by an SEC team.

Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

Thats what I'm thinking. Who know what we have till possibly mid season. Next year we wont have to wait as long since we will be playing our SEC schedule.

LOLOL It's funny how literally the only thing a Texas fan can talk about is "2022", and an Oklahoma fan can pull out decades worth of material to talk trash to a Texas fan. Sad. Enjoy your one game of playing against a tight end at quarterback and a shell of a team that was left months before LOLOL.

Enjoy your teams 3 1st round NFL draft picks since 2011, 0 conference championships since 2009, x2 losses to Kansas, 61-54 record since 2010.

*Most importantly, 4 losing seasons since 2010 by 3 different coaches! Great job, Texas!

Let's hear more about 2022 though...

Bottom line: Its rat poison for now. I imagine the kicker is icing his leg today too. SMU will be a better test (woulda been Georgia if not canx by SEC).

Oklahoma has always scored around a gazillion points on lower tier and Big 12 schools.

Nothing so far has changed from that standpoint.
