no one gives a shite. frick UNC, you don't deserve the SEC. clowns

but USC does?

what the frick does South Carolina bring to the table besides womens basketball?

UNC brings way more

personally i dont like any of the expansion shite. but cat is out of the bag now.

i think you add 4 or you add 8. i would prefer 4

UNC
Clemson
FSU
either UVA or VT

if you go 8

Clemson
FSU
UNC
UVA
VT
NC State
UM
Duke or GT

if its 6
FSU
Clemson
UNC
UVA
VT
NC State

if Mizzou wants to leave, let them if they want Big 10

then its simple, add 5
clemson
fsu
unc
uva

and you pick 1

VT
NC State

but bottomline is we are looking for TV matchups and grabbing states 2nd. espn wants big time matchups period over anything else.

It's a math problem though. Each new team added to the SEC needs to add about 60-65 million dollars of TV revenue per year to "pay for themselves". Otherwise teams already in the SEC will get paid less. Right now ESPN pays 240 million dollars a year for the ACC games. That basically means if the ACC were to take 4 teams, they'd have to pay the SEC the entire amount they pay for the ACC to cover them being added... and they lose a bunch of games to broadcast in the equation. The math doesn't work.

The squishy part of that is what do they gain from better matchups? Can they get the SEC to agree to 10 or 11 conference game schedule? Etc.

I get what you’re saying but there is some complexity that I don’t think is fully covered. It’s almost like a 3 or 4 unknown variable equation.

Nope.

But like Vandy, Mississippi State and Mizzou, they were smart enough to get in when they could and not choose to leave.

UNC is on the outside looking to get in. For them to get in, every SEC team needs to make more money by adding them then by leaving them out.

Could the SEC make more by kicking South Carolina out? Maybe, but we're basically like the EU. You can be an idiot and leave like Britain did... but we won't kick you out even if you're Greece. We also might not add you if you're a Greece like country wanting to get in.

absolutely we do. We pack 85k into a football stadium to watch our games. UNC is not doing that. Football does not matter to them

We have won baseball national titles, so we do bring more.

The only thing that UNC brings is basketball. That is it. They are a wine and cheese crowd with an incredibly arrogant side.

North Carolina would be a good, not great, addition.

Some positives:

-Elite, blueblood in basketball that would naturally fit with Kentucky (and Arkansas and Tennessee to some extent)
-Premier school in the state
-Strong academics
-Great college town that makes sense, geographically
-Typically top 25 baseball
-Decent football that has potential
-Expand into the NC market - Charlotte, Raleigh, Research triangle

I'd take them over Clemson and Florida State, as well.

100% and i dont want to kick anyone out. i just found the arrogance from a usc fan....well laughable

UNC to be in, have to keep the $$ the same or better across the board. same with FSU, clemson, UVA, VT, NC STATE, Maimi etc

laugh all you want. UNC isnt competing in anything besides basketball. Their fans certainly aren't showing up for anything other than basketball. Its a shitty fit for the SEC, they don't belong.

If you want to put down USC for not winning enough, fair enough, but our fans show up and show out. We are an SEC fanbase.

Snakey doesn’t mind wine and cheese schools. He just brought in Texas, which is basically the same crowd in Roy Rogers hats.

And lets be 100% real. NC basketball is trending down compared to it's past history.

This chart is rather irrelevant because as soon as UNC starts playing Georgia, Florida, and the rest of the SEC, their audience goes up ten fold. The point is the potential with the large RDU and CLT markets is massive when you introduce the popularity of SEC matchups. I would never watch UNC play Wake Forest, or even Clemson for that matter, but I would definitely watch them play Florida along with many more viewers from NC.

Not sure the SEC needs UNC and Duke. Might hurt the conference's basketball reputation too much

This is what NC General Assembly leaders said:

"I really think Carolina and State ought to be in the same conference," said House Speaker Tim Moore, R-Cleveland. "I really think they ought to do that. And I think you’d have a lot of resistance to seeing them split off in different conferences."

Said Senate leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham: "There is something about the rivalries that exist that i think would be damaged if we have the larger schools within North Carolina in different conferences. I would not like to see that happen. Whether or not that’s something that would be appropriate for the legislature to step in or not, I have not really thought about it that way.”

Other states have tried and said the same thing about staying together.

Neither UNC nor NC State would care. In the end it is about the money. And you can bet anything if one could an advantage, especially NCSU they would be gone in a heartbeat.

Not really, they just don't have the culture. Culturally, FSU and Clemson are way better fits for the SEC.
