Can we get Shepard Smith's thoughts on this incident? He would appear to have some good inside info.

right, that's what I am thinking. Freeze doesn't tweet shite about this unless some kind of slur was used. i mean why else? football players being loud or obnoxious would be an internal matter, and really only if he had complaints from the professor or department. now, fig gets said and you get what we see today.

You got a horrible sample.

All 5 years that I hung out in Oxford (my wife was a year younger so she graduated a year later) I hung out with nothing but liberal hippies. And they were EVERYWHERE.

You can't throw a rock on the OM campus without hitting a hipster.

Yes, there's also a large conservative "Greek" or "prep" contingent, but they're far from the majority. I think it's a fairly even split.

It sounds like you hung out with one small sample of students, as you said.

I'll say that if it did happen that it wouldn't surprise me because some of the players we have are idiots. But I really believe that part of the story isn't true.

Freeze needs to run them until they puke all week regardless of what was said or not said. It was fricking stupid of them to make any noise.

Minus the gay slurs in the middle of a performance, I see rude asshat people all the time at concerts on college campuses. The general easy fine art classes would require people to attend X amount of events and some people had never been to a concert or play before. They had their phones out, talking in the middle of a performance, running in and out, and occasionally made comments about what was on stage. Usually a teacher or security guard would quickly do something about it. Why this didn't get dealt with during the performance is what bugs me.

It reminds me of a small redneck school masquerading as a major university.

I can tell that it really bothers you when a group of people experience prejudice. Because it's unfair to judge an entire group of people based on the actions of a few, right? Clearly, you are against sweeping generalizations of people based on their race or sexual orientation. I'm surprised a warrior for social justice such as yourself is such a hypocrite when it comes to generalizations based on where someone goes to college.

So is the most likely scenario that the DM sent someone to write an article on the play. DM writer sits next to football players and sees them not acting correctly. DM writer ask producer/ cast in interview about it and they said something about it. DM writer runs with quote and bases article about it. National media hates OM.

Exactly. This is a non-issue if this was any other play.

The article quotes the play's director and theatre faculty member as saying the audience used gay slurs and hate language.

quote:

According to the play’s director and theater faculty member Rory Ledbetter, some audience members used derogatory slurs like “fig” and heckled both cast members and the characters they were portraying for their body types and sexual orientations. Ledbetter said the audience’s reactions included “borderline hate speech.

You saying a faculty member made that up?

The most likely scenario to me is the DM didn't have anyone there, heard something about it happening then interviewed one person and based their article around that without doing any further research. How that place hasn't been sued is beyond me.

The DM did get the part about their apology not being "real" right though. Supposedly it was just kind of "meh. sorry"

Good. You shouldn't have to bow down to every single person you offend.

but it's not, it's a play about a kid who was murdered for being gay.

look I know it's your alma mater and you don't want to believe this but denial is making it look even worse.

This kinda shite is par for the course in Black Bear land. Oxford is a magnet for bigotry and hate.
