It sounds like it from those who are in the know. He'll still battle it out with Raiola though.

I know fans generally get limited info on backups but was just curious if there was any scuttlebutt out there.

I think Stockton has that Baker Mayfield/Stetson Bennett creativity.
But it sounds like Vandagriff has been more consistent with the 2023 receivers than Gunner.

What's more important?
Gameplan?
Or a QB who can create on his own when the plan isn't there?

Hard to tell, but word is he's done well on scout. I think he is next in line (was always debated between he and BVG), with Raiola on deck. A lot of people high on Stockton.

I'm just gonna hedge and say it's situational dependent, lulz.

Let me look in the offensive linemen's eyes and get back to you on that one.

Interesting that we both have almost identical QB situations

- veteran QB that outperformed public expectations probably returning
- 2 young QBs that coaches like, probably will lose 1 to the portal
- incoming uber elite talented freshman

Seems like we both have about as good a QB situation moving into 2024 as you can possibly hope for in the transfer portal era. As I say that we'll probably both lose 2 more to the portal and/or draft and I'll be dead wrong

Yes, it's a good problem we have at UGA, which feels tens of thousands of miles away from what we had in 2019 and 2020. Remember when Kirby couldn't manage a QB room?

I think you have to stack talent at QB this day and age, and not because of injuries. The portal will kill you at that position.

Thanks for all the responses on here. Sounds like he is a Will Levis type of player. Exactly what Coen is looking for!

I hope he works out for you and catches AIDs when you play us...

JK. Syphilis. A little penicillin will have him ready for the next week.

Hell we couldn't beat y'all if we had Mahomes and Joe Burrow.

I would almost bet that between Bennett, Beck and Vandagriff there was almost NO difference that most fans would notice. All 3 were or still are fantastic QBs. I bet the difference between Beck and Vandagriff was almost non-existent...he is going to be a get for somebody.

I think he could be really good. Did everything asked of him at UGA without complaining.

Glad he's getting his shot. All he is lacking is experience. He could be a pretty dynamic player. The only thing we don't know is his decision making ability. Which, again, goes to lack of experience.

I think he's a really good get.

He will fit into Kentucky system perfectly. Just not enough room in the QB rotation at UGA

Great size and sneaky good athleticism. Dude is faster than you'd think just by looking at him but he is a "dual threat", IMO. Huge arm. He just wouldn't ever have an opportunity here (unless Beck were to leave, in which case Brock would almost surely start IMO). Got nothing bad at all to say about him, other than it's annoying having to play against people that transferred away from you through no fault of our own.

TELL us that he is a white guy without actually telling us that he is a white guy

I'd argue that Beck's platform is near elite.

He is consistent because he has great footwork.

What am I saying? Beck is a better QB (passer). I think that is pretty definitive.

Beck does a solid job with pre and post snap reads.
I would guess that it is better than Vandagriff.
But we haven't watched enough Vandagriff to know.

Funny fact, Brock Vandagriff is older than Carson.

His sister is playing volleyball just up the road at EKU as well.

Hope we land him. He’s a pro style guy. He’ll have two years of eligibility and that will allow Cutter and/or Stone to actually get developed at QB.
