Are you freakin kidding me? You wanna give
me the LEGAL reason he was pulled over?
Speeding? Failure to maintain?Brake light?
Lane change? Wreckless? Accident?

The LEO claimed he was looking for an experation date on dealer tag and the driver"suspiciously" cut to the middle lane to "avoid the LEO seeing the tag"

This garbage will be thrown in 5 mins with
any competent atty and it's not even an issue in Tuscaloosa,Auburn, Gainesville, Knoxville, etc.

Why does he do this?

What? You have NO IDEA if this is the case.

Looks like they had a lot of reason.

Please name one

So it's illegal to drive with a dealer tag?

Not even close to impossible.

Likely, given the lack of DUI charge.

Fromm the article...

"...when he called in the number, the officer learned that the insurance status was unknown. That's when the officer turned on his emergency lights. The vehicle immediately pulled into a handicap parking space and both the driver and the passenger in the right front seat quickly exited the vehicle, further arousing suspicion."

Is this reason to pull someone over? Legitimately asking.

Seems to me that “unknown” is a pretty flimsy standard.

So why exactly was he following the vehicle in the 1st place?

So why did you cut out those reasons from the report?

How often are cops driving around and calling in tags checking for insurance?
Ya REALLY think they do this 24/7?

It obviously happens AFTER a perp is pulled over but doing it at random to 2 AA
in a Charger? Kinda strange isn't it?

I'm not a cop but that's probably Law Enforcement 101. Most criminals are not that smart. They're already breaking the law so they often ignore civil/traffic laws. It was also 12:45AM so...

Sometimes I think Georgia has bots that just go and say nothing is true, their player/coach/what have you wasn't in the wrong and that it's everyone else's fault in the situation.

Cop was racist.

Cop "pulled him over with no reason". (Pulled him over after running the tag and finding out there was no insurance.)

He wasn't intoxicated. (He admitted to being intoxicated.)

I guess being a Florida fan I'm used to bashing the shitheads on our team who do stupid shite, but at Georgia it's almost a "one of us, one of us" type of mentality.

"What's a little alcohol, drugs and a gun in the early hours of the morning in a car they're driving with an invalid license? LITERALLY A BIG OL' NOTHING BURGER."

UGA fans, it's okay to admit he did something wrong.

It is against the law to drive an uninsured vehicle in every state. If it came back "unknown", they are going to pull you............just like they will pull you if they notice your tag is out of date.

ETA It is beyond comical how UGA fans are trying to spin this. The police were doing their jobs. One of yours got caught. It is what it is.

Ya think? That wasn't the case here and he wasn't given a ticket for it.

Not even close to the same thing? Once again, how often are police driving around calling in tags for insurance? I've never heard of ANYONE getting pulled over for "unknown insurance". Have you?

They do it if they have a ALPR reader in the car but that wasn't the case.

So why exactly did he start following these guys? Any guesses?

A first year law student can get these guys off if they put that cop on the stand.

This is just an article I found but most of the time if they run your plates and your insurance is reported like that they will pull you over.

I mean, who the frick cares, though? Driving late at night with drugs, alcohol, an invalid license in a vehicle that is...let's say just a little favor from someone, but not his? Kid was begging for problems.

I mean yeah it’s illegal, but I still think the reason for being pulled over is a little sketch. I also don’t think booze and weed are a big deal, so I’m not gonna call him out on that.

He should leave the gun at home, but it was permitted and everything.

So do you think the police knew he was a UGA football player and wanted to make an example of him?

ETA or because they knew he was a UGA football player.........he was up to no good?

No, I think they knew it was a young dude driving around at night and profiled him thinking they could nail him for something else. That happens nightly on campuses across America, but that doesn’t make it ok for cops to do that.

Was it on campus? IIRC, it wasn't campus police who cited him.

ETA btw, I think he got off easy. I still don't understand how he wasn't charged with underage drinking.

I should have said in college towns. College town cops absolutely keep an eye out for young men driving at night.

It’s not a problem specific to James Cook or UGA football players.

ETA: you think Johnny Law is running the dealer plates on a Mercedes driven by a middle aged soccer mom? frick no.

Their system of cheating isn't as sophisticated as the Auburns and Bamas of the world and will get them lit up like Ole Miss
