When they say “dealer tag” do they mean an actual dealer license plate, or a temporary tag? The way the article reads (officer was trying to see the expiration date) makes me think it was just a temporary paper tag
I'm currently test driving cars, a few in ATL and not one dealership has an expiration date on the dealers tag.

Well how come the officer said he was looking for the expiration date on the tag? He was also able to call in the tag regarding inssurance...which means it was a temp tag.

No, I'm test driving the new 2020's. All they have are the plastic dealership tags with dealer info/phone#/website on the tag no metal tags that I've seen yet.

The story should be more clear about what kind of tag. I worked for a Toyota dealership in high school in Kentucky and we had metal dealer tags similar to the one above that had to be renewed every year. They were mainly used for fleet vehicles, transporting vehicles and the sales teams take home cars. The paper temp tags were always just for customers while they waited for their cars to be registered / plates transferred.

Typically when the salesman had to go out on a test drive with a customer he'd just grab a metal tag and either throw it in the back window or just carry it in case they did get pulled over.

No idea how they do things in GA.

Exactly!

An why the hell are cops worried about shite like this in the first place? It's after mid-night, go chase down some criminals stealing in a shopping center. And why did cop feel like the driver was evading him?

It was an actual dealer tag though. Does his brother own a car lot?

You do realize you can buy a dealer owned car, right?

Crap, dude! Keep grasping at straws. Mayne you will be able to make all those losses feel better.

On the bright side, Gus has a chance to escape the 2019 season with only 3 losses this year!

Time for an extension!

Any half decent attorney should be able to get these charges dismissed.

Very shady reasons for pulling these kids over

That's not an expiration date. That is the current year for ad valorum taxes.

They have expiration dates on cars sold for the owners new tag. Typically it is for a month or so. Their temporary tag should be replaced with the permanent tag.

All charges will be dismissed. The whole thing is just an asinine Barney Fife looking for a reason to bust a couple of kids.

All dealer tags have an expiration date. They aren’t valid forever.

If it is a brand new car you have a temporary dealers tag. It is replaced with a permanent tag. The tag is applied for when you buy the car and it is sent to you.

A dealers tag is the temporary tag that is on the car when you first buy it.

Do Auburn fans buy cars or just steal them?

Haven't you ever bought a car?

ETA
Look. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. When a new car is bought the temporary tag has an expiration date on it. If it were a tag that said
Dealer" on it to show that it is a dealership owned car, it has a regular tag with an ad volrum sticker on it. That is not an expiration date sticker.

I swear some of you Auburn posters are about as dumb as a box of rocks.
