Of course you take the simple way to compare. Lets take a more intelligent way of comparing the 2002 SEC champs with the 2017 SEC champs:

Top 10 wins:

2017, 2
2002, 0

Top 20 wins:

2017, 4
2002, 2

Scoring Diff:

2017, 19
2002, 17

Yardage Diff:

2017, 141
2002, 80

SOS:

2017, 6
2002, 24

Or the only metric that counts. The one where we took Bama to Overtime in a National Title game.

By every metric - Kirby has already done something Richt was never able to achieve. He also has recruited talent at a level Richt was never able to achieve.

The fear is palpable.

I suppose a requisite component of intellectual dishonesty is intellect... User JakeLaMotta just pointing out that he's a barely functioning retard by trying to compare a 2 point win over Alabama with Franchione with 3 regular season losses in total to an OT loss to Alabama with tGOAT coach.

You mean like saying Kirby won the Rose Bowl when it was literally impossible for Richt to even play in that game for 14 of his 15 seasons and since 1946 only two SEC teams have played in the game?

Richt also beat Bama in his third year. Going to be tough for Kirby to do that. These are the problems you face when you fire a guy like Richt. People are absolutely going to compare Kirby to him season by season.

I want to make sure I understand this. So the question is if the coach who just couldn’t breakthrough and get the big win actually broke through and got the big win would UGA fans want to keep said coach who just did what they said he couldn’t do? And there is at least one UGA fan who says hell no. He’s happy with the direction of the program which just wrapped up the season by not winning the big game.

Well Bama is in the same place now, that they were in 2003...

I wish you could be banned. You are easily the worst poster on this site, and there are some terrible posters.

We went 2 for 3 in big games. Unless all of a sudden winning the Rose Bowl and the SEC isn't considered big games.

It really doesnt matter what simple-minded people are going to attempt to do. The only thing you are going to accomplish is embarrassing the memory of jake lamotta.

You are putting a whole lotta chips in on a very small sample size. These answers will be more interesting in 5 years.

Game could have went either way. If homeboy over throws the pass or makes a bad read or anything the game goes the other way. This is from a Georgia team no one was projecting to be in title game.

Kirby arrived early

Having the best players is a start. He's already he could do it without having the better team. Let's see what happens when our roster is even on both ends.

youre nuts if you think a MNC would be a distant memory.

I was in school at UGA then so winning one while enrolled would be amazing.

My answer is YES

Did Richt get us to a national championship game? Yes or No... you can qualify it however you'd like, but the simple fact is he did not. Kirby had us at #2 in the "BCS Projections" that are still maintained with some substitutions for computer polls no longer in existence, which would have accomplished what Richt did not in 2002... even if you want to try and differentiate BCS from CFP era.

What on earth does this have to do with the price of tea in China. I realize you think the world revolves around Alabama...

Richt beat Franchione in 2002, and Shula in 2003... in what world do those 2 wins equate to a win over Alabama in 2017 or 2018 with Saban as a head coach?

Keep in mind that Kirby won't have Alabama on the regular season schedule until 2020... If Alabama can't make it to the SEC Championship Game again next year, yeah... it will be pretty tough to play them.

Except that through year 2, Kirby has already had a better go of it... you may disagree... you're allowed to be wrong. Hell, based on the drivel that you frequently post around here, I think you actually enjoy it. It's like a security blanket of derp.

I was a senior and at the SECCG in the student section. Also spent way too much money to go to the natty this year.

I'd still probably take the current situation though. Although I don't think it's mutually exclusive, I still think we would have moved on from Richt after the trajectory the program was taking.

Keep telling yourself that, maybe you might actually succeed in believing it one day, Kirby is here to stay, only going to get better with the talent pool in GA and his ability to recruit.

Alabama should be scared, especially with Satan nearing the end in bammer ;-)
