But I'm surprised to see that LSU out gained and had more YPP than Georgia.

Tends to happen when you are killing clock in garbage time.

I like YPP as a stat.
The flaw is that the team who passes more is almost always guaranteed to have the better YPP.
UGA had 5.8 ypr and 9.4 ypp.
LSUs 9.7 ypp wins out overall despite a 2.4 ypr.

Fortunately, wins and losses are based on scores. Not just whichever team abandons the run game.

I'd say as well as we could've wanted.

1. Covered.

2. Played well enough no one denied our standing as numero uno.

3. Numero uno gets to stay in Atlanta.

4. Played so poorly on pass defense will be easy to get the kids to buy in they must improve to beat OSU.

5. Have one month and a whole lot of yummy rat poison to eat as we prepare for the most talented team (besides ourselves) in the playoff.

Above expectations the first half with a few epic nuggets of domination. Jalen Carter picking up his toy and taking it away from LSU’s big uglies and then telling them to go home was one of the funniest moments of SECC history. At least what I’ve seen anyway

2nd half - we burp the ball out untouched the first 2 drives, the defense came out rotating DL LB , meanwhile LSU came out with the same plan as the beginning of 1st half - which was to punch us in the mouth quickly - which they did and our extremely young secondary got the brunt of it.

Y’all made the second half watchable, but I can’t say that I worried or felt that shadows of impending doom like the old ATL curse we were tortured with . Honestly I’m thankful y’all didn’t roll over like Tenner. The slight lack of focus put them on their heels and they spent all half trying to recover from it. That in itself made it easier for Kirby to keep them sharp over the long 3 1/2 weeks ahead. That is what Kirby is best at and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.

Yep. Some teams pass for 60
Minutes. Uga shuts it down long before then.

Idiots somehow don’t understand the significance. See this guy and most vol fans.

fluke interception and punt block return

That's football, and good heads up plays by UGA players. There is nothing fluke about either.

You must be joking. We had backups on defense most of the second half and offensively how many times did we pass the ball? I am going to assume it was under 3.

This game was over at half time and kudos for LSU for continuing to battle. But I'm fine with the outcome as the game was never in question.

Kelee Ringo got some work to do however.

My only question was why you didn't play Neus all year.

As does Starks, but hes got the ‘true -freshman mistakes’ pass. Ringo will have to go as a S in the NFL

One of the things that I like about Smart is that he doesn't get hung up on stats other than the final score.

In the second half, he was trading points for time. UGA didn't blitz in the second half. They went completely vanilla on defense and forced LSU to expend time to get points.

UGA would then ground pound the ball and burn more time.

Smart and UGA have done this all season. Folks on this board were freaking out over the margin of victory with UK. That game was never in doubt. UGA got the lead and then put UK in a position of having to go for a knockout while UGA could play defense.

It was a weird game. In the first half the FG block and interception with the ball bouncing off your guys helmet helped us widen the gap and the defense was dominating through the second.

Second half was like being in a shootout with a 3 TD lead. When you scored we’d dial it up and match. Once it became mathematically unlikely you’d catch us, we tightened up and played safe to burn out the clock. Much like TN, CKS figured out if we run every play and punt you don’t have enough time to close the gap. The 2 pt conversion made it a 4 score game.

We also pulled in a lot of second team guys to protect our starters.

That said, you absolutely torched our secondary in the second half which was scary.

UGA went up 35-7 and 42-17 but you don’t think they took their foot off the gas? Sure thing chief lol they were also up 50-23 in the fourth quarter

Perkins and Starks will grow, I anticipate those will be two of the highest rated defenders in that 2025 draft class. Some time away but dudes are incredible talents

big picture macrolevel, about what I thought
in-gmae microlevel, definitely a bit different

I assumed that we would end up building a solid lead, then take the foot off the gas and coast through the end while giving up some garbage time points and winning by a couple TDs. The building a huge lead was right, as was giving up some 2nd half points and winning by 2 TDs part.

What was different was I didn't think we'd score THAT MUCH in the 1st half, that was shocking. What was equally as shocking was that we couldn't stop the pass game in the 2nd half to save our lives.

Ultiamtely I'm kinda glad it happened though since OSU is such a dangerous passing team so we now have a blueprint on how/why we fricked up and can have a month to work on it.

How did it go?

UGA got out to a 35-7 first half lead and coasted to an easy 50-30 win.

Biggest issue is when UGA stopped bringing pressure and went to an umbrella defense, LSU was able to pass deep against it. The point of that approach is to make teams pass short and force them to burn clock going down the field.

But when your problem is your prevent defense is poor... it's not much of a problem. It only impacts you when your team is blowing the opponent out.

UGA did give up too many passing yards. IMO, it is a good thing it happened. This gives Kirby and staff something to harp on the next three weeks. I have seen this before. Kirby will get this fixed before we play OSU.

Kick block returns and interceptions that bounce off helmets aren’t flukes when your team is disciplined.

So disciplined half your team thought the ball was dead. It was a blow out but get out of here with that.
