I don’t get the butterfly nets? Were they supposed to look like orderlies who use the nets to catch crazy people or something?

Yes, that was the idea ... orderlies using nets to capture the crazy as if they were a wild rabid dog. It was a common theme in movie cartoons of the time.

Pretty sure that it needs to be from someone affiliated with Auburn/Auburn Athletics, a merchant or an agent.
Either way, a simple "they immediately turned over the$ to Athletics official in the locker room" solves it
I'd be more worried about the girl turning around and saying they stole the money and she wasn't actually trying to give it to them.

They found what appears to be, but can't be 100% confirmed as, a few singles on the ground. They picked them because coming from an Ag school, they are staunchly anti-littering, and also wanted to prevent them from being a tripping hazard to those behind them. The moment they were in the tunnel and out of view of the camera, they handed it all over to Florida employees.
