re: UCF AD turns down Gators two-for-one offer, wants neutral site game or a home and home

Why do I need to provide a reason when several P5 schools have shown they clearly think it's worth doing?
If there were no reasons to do it they would have never gotten any home and home P5 games in the first place.
Maybe Florida's AD should have done some homework before trying to big time UCF though the media?

In other words, you are worried about losing.
I worry about giving a program unearned money, exposure, legitimacy and strength of schedule when we don't get any of those things.
Even a win against UCF wouldn't help us anymore than a win against Florida State, or even Miami next year. The only thing it does is give them a hand when we have no rhyme or reason to.
We offered a deal that favored our interests, they declined it in spite saying thay would play anyone anywhere. If we're giving a hand, at least give us the revenue for two home games instead of a 1 and 1.

"Like" FSU? Other than occasionally Miami, when was the last time Florida played a home-and-home with anyone else?

Like I suspected, you couldn’t come up with anything. You’ve spent the better part of the afternoon devoted to this, yet you can’t fabricate a single argument supporting your stance. Not even a bad argument, just nothing. That’s pathetic man.

Lots of stupid in this thread. Spare me the "Florida's afraid" bullshite. It's an asinine remark by those incapable of higher thought. Seven pages and apparently not one poster wanting this game can find two brain cells to rub together long enough to come up with one reason why a game would be in Florida's best interests.
Even assuming Florida beats them easily, why give an in state recruiting rival the media exposure? UCF was lucky to get the offer they got. It's a helluva lot more than UAB or Troy will ever get from Alabama. They should take it.
Stricklin doesn't work for UCF, and this isn't some massive welfare program. Someone give one reason...just one...why it would benefit UF.

Why should UCF agree to a shite deal with a shite team? They're the best team in Florida.

Cool.
Don't take the deal... and stop crying/whining about no one scheduling you and not making the playoffs.

And the Florida AD just showed us everything wrong with college football.

It's a shite deal from a shite team. There's no significant increase to their strength of schedule by adding Florida over Pitt or Syracuse.

Salty Buckeye. Thanks for those 2 National Championships. 41-14.

Even if you truly believed that (you don't), there's still revenue, exposure, validity (as a program) -- the chance to play and beat a P5 team that isn't in a sleepwalking post-season and has something to play for.
But again: Name one reason why it's a good deal to give an in-state uprising program a leg up while ignoring our own interests?
No company would ever do something like that, I'm not sure why Florida must.

financially difficult to give up about $2 million in revenue from a home game in exchange for a Power 5-host payout that generally would be far less than $2 million
Once again $$$ matters more than relevancy, building a program, building a fanbase, etc. This is called being short sighted.

To be fair, they have been better than Florida the last two years
Why is Florida afraid to go to UCF?
UCF needs Florida more than Florida needs UCF.
If UCF wants to get on a bigger stage they're going to have to pay their dues.
Florida already has a big home and home with FSU which is their natural rival. They're not giving up money to play UCF h&h.

This was a fair deal offered by UF. UF can play somebody else and make a lot more money that week, so UCF needs to bend a little. UCF needs to go to UF twice, get a million dollar payout twice, strenghten their schedule, and get to host UF once. It was dumb for UCF to turn this down.
But Many SEC Rant fans laughed at Missouri for hiring Dooley to be Missouri offensive coordinator. And now Missouri is doing a great job on offense and even got the transfer quarterback that Auburn could not get him to go to Auburn. That is huge for Missouri to beat out Gus and Auburn to get the transfer quarterback. Also there were some Missouri fans were wanted Odom fired last year and earlier and midway this year. That is just too bad had to try to convince those Missouri fans that Barry Odom have improved the team each year and the record is better as well. Even had some Missouri fans put me down and acted like I am a teenager and so forth. I am the one laughing out loud and enjoying it! I am pretty good with evaluating coaches and the games and other sort of things connected to football.

What in the frick are you talking about?

The 2 for 1 was really generous. UCF should have taken it. If it were me, I would have offered only a 5 for 1 deal.

Just seems like everyone associated with UCF is a major bitch.
