UAB Medical School is opening a new branch in Montgomery to go with the one in Hunstville and Tuscaloosa. So we will have UAB-Montgomery, UAB-Tuscaloosa and UAB-Huntsville....
-------
The campus, located at Baptist Medical Center South, will be the third regional location for the UAB School of Medicine. UAB already operates campuses in Tuscaloosa and Huntsville.
UAB Expands

No one really associated UAB with Alabama until there's a conflict with the BOT so they could probably keep the name The University of Alabama Birmingham and drop the "at"

Most UAB grads that I know are Bama fans. Doesn't make any sense at all. It's a touchy subject too that usually leads to a conversation about how both universities are in the same system so it's OK to be a fan of the other, etc, etc, etc....

You got that right.
There is no such thing as UAB Medical Center.
It is The University of Alabama Medical Center.
and UAB at Tuscaloosa? that's even more laughable....

UAB is the newest and largest in terms of faculty, staff, and budget of Alabama's major universities. UAB began in 1936 as the Birmingham Extension Center of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Because of the rapid growth of the Birmingham area, it was decided that a program for students in the Birmingham area was needed. In 1945, the University of Alabama School of Medicine moved from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham, and took over management of Jefferson and Hillman Hospitals in Birmingham.
In 1966, the Extension Center and the School of Medicine were merged into the University of Alabama in Birmingham. In 1969, UAB became one of three autonomous institutions of the University of Alabama System, which includes the University of Alabama (UA) in Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAHuntsville). The university's name was changed to the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1984.
I think the Alabama politicians screwed UA. LINK
