Outside of football season what business will this resort get? Not taking a shot at bama but for any college town in general - the tourist season is limited to 6-7 weeks a year. Seems like a bad business model

Nobody reads the article. Tuscaloosa is not getting some Punta Cana style “resort”. This will be some low-key sports branded hotel with some amenities.

Definitely an outside the box idea. I'd be afraid the undesirables would cause it to shut down within 10 years.

Besides football season, only other rows they’d be busy is during Dec, May,
and August graduations. Also,
during orientations and dorm move in and move out for the parents to stay overnight. Maybe for parents weekends. That’s about it. Going to be sitting empty most of the time.

So like most of the condos and hotels in Tuscaloosa that only exist for football season and yet there is still not enough to meet demand many home games.

Most of real estate development in Tuscaloosa is based on the assumption that Alabama's current football dynasty is going to be perpetual. The increasing unaffordability of college education, declining birth rates, and the sheer fact that the Saban era cannot be a 1000-year imperium make me think that Tuscaloosa is likely to be littered with under-utilized space in the core of the city at some point in the coming decades.
