before NIL and parity 4 teams was usually (but not always) enough to get the legit contenders. Now it should be 16, which is still the same number of rounds just gets rid of the byes which is also how it should be

The playing every team at least every other year should solve the SEC schedule disparity some.

I'll be surprised if it makes much difference. Overall the SEC teams schedule should be even more difficult, of which is the opposite of what is needed.
But last year Texas had an extremely easy SEC schedule. This year they have one of the more difficult ones, even though they are playing the same teams they played last year.
This year A&M/Vandy/Ole miss have the weakest schedules even though they also played the same teams as last year and had respectable schedules.
It's just too many teams. Conference either needs to split in 2, or we need to drop a bunch of teams and I'd prefer not to get rid of SEC originals.

One of those 3 losses avenged weeks later in SECCG. Another was prayer at J-H. Can’t even remember the 3rd.
