Also sounds like No Pants Lance may be coming back to Knoxville. This is shaping up to be a better staff than the one Kiffin had

I smell a disaster coming for UT. Pruitt just seems like the type that will end up burning your program down.

Tennessee’s staff continues to take shape under first-year coach Jeremy Pruitt, and sources tell VolQuest.com, that both Tracy Rocker and Chris Rumph are in town and appear set to take positions on staff.

Rocker is a former Georgia and Auburn defensive line coach, while Rumph has spent the last three seasons at Florida.

It’s unclear what positions they’ll coach next season. Both Rocker (Georgia 2014-15) and Rumph (Alabama 2011-12) worked with Pruitt previously as defensive line coaches.

On Thursday, VolQuest.com reported that Tyson Helton was set to take the OC job, while Will Friend will serve as the OL coach, with possibly other titles, too. Robert Gillespie will stay on staff and former VFL Terry Fair will serve as the secondary coach.

Per sources, Georgia linebacker coach Kevin Sherrer is set to be named Tennessee’s defensive coordinator.

SC bout to lose the best recruiter they have on staff.

UF losing Rumph (Their Dline has been fantastic under him, imo).

UGA losing a straight savage in Sherrer

Anyone else we can poach from the SEC East?

It’s already been burned down. Pruitt doesn’t seem like the guy to rebuild it.

"Savage" is a bit strong for Sherrer as a recruiter.

So here is the current coaching staff:

Tyson Helton (OC/QBs)
Will Friend (OL)
Robert Gillespie (RB)
Kevin Sherrer (DC)
Chris Rumph (DL?)
Tracy Rocker (DL)
Terry Fair (Secondary)

We have 2 positions to fill now (plus a 10th next month) and it looks likely Lance Thompson will take one of those. I wonder what directions he plans on going for the final two?

Noted...

I like Sherrer fine, but that's a little over the top.

This seems like an awful lot of defensive coaches though. Let's say hypothetically this is the current lineup:

DL: Rocker
OLB: Rumph
ILB/DC: Sherrer
DB: Fair

QB/OC: Helton
RB: Gillespie
WR:
TE:
OL: Friend

Not sure where Thompson fits. I'd think you'd maybe want the 10th assistant to be more of a STs guy or someone who helps more in the back end of your defense.

That's true, but UGA would be in it with those guys with me as the OLB coach, as the program currently stands.

Is Helton confirmed OC? Thought it came out we were still looking at Enos

But this is a Tenner we're talking about. They approach CFB the same way they approach rasslin'. Everybody who comes to UT is a superstar. Then, when they don't live up to it, they want to fire them immediately.

You watch, they'll be pre-season favs to win the East, according to them. Happens ever year.

I think there a decent shot Bryan McClendon ends up being the new OC at South Carolina.

Our writers seem to think the same. Bowl game is a pseudo audition

He also coaches LB's. Actually I think he has been a LB coach since 2008 or something, except for his time here at SC. But he was also a DL coach before his time at SC, though I'm hazy on where and how long.

Just saying he could easily be the LB coach, or one of them at Tennessee.

If he goes.

Lance Thompson never seems to stay at 1 job for a long time. I wouldn't be shocked if he left.
