UF had a worse history than UGA at basketball pre Donovan. It could go back there.

UF made a Final 4 before Donovan came to UF.

You downgraded at Football and I bet you do the same in basketball.

We'll see - White staying at UF wouldn't have done anything for this program.

Georgia willing to take White at this point says much more about Georgia's program than it does about UF's.

This is probably the best case scenario but the more likely one is that he wins 10-12 games and gets shite canned in 3 years.

White is a good man, and a good-to-great recruiter - he works the transfer portal well, and is capable of recruiting top high school talent.

But he cannot coach X's and O's, especially on offense. He was exposed significantly after losing Chris Chiozza.

Nembhard's elite passing ability hid how awful White's offensive system was.

Toxic culture at the UF AD and Fanbase seems to be the reason White left

I'll be the first to admit that there is a toxic element of the UF fanbase that can permeate the media narrative at times.

But the fanbase overall was more than patient with Mike White, with a good number of fans still supporting him despite his underwhelming performance at UF.

There's a reason why he's called "Mid-major Mike" and it's because he does well at a program with lower expectations (he was great at La Tech). In a way, he's like McElwain who did well at CSU and is doing pretty well at CMU now. They're not terrible coaches, but they're also not good for bigger programs with expectations. UGA basketball, despite being in a P5, has expectations that are more similar to LA Tech (for now, unless MW does really well there and raises expectations). I think it was a pretty good hire for Georgia and that he might actually do well there.

I don't think the "toxicity" of a fanbase/AD had anything to do with him leaving, it was just not working out, and both him and the program needed a fresh start.

Go to SwampGas forums. Florida fans there think UF is an Ivy League school forced to dwell among us Philistines.

White will be fired at UGA in 3-4 years after failing to make the NCAAT.

I think of Texas and Barnes when i think of that, at some point you have to know that its far easier to hire worse.

The biggest difference of course being that Barnes was a much better and accomplished head coach

Seems their fanbase is getting more delusional and Sharkhumper and Cousin Ed were right about their fans.

Well if you are going to start agreeing with Florida coaches after the fact, maybe we should keep that in mind when you start criticizing our new coaches.

Are we just assuming White’s a good man? I’ll never forget him deciding to continue playing the game vs FSU while his star player was laying motionless, looked dead on the floor. His entire team was totally distraught, all of them in tears, weeping aloud and his win at all cost attitude decided to keep playing. We had a huge lead but of course lost that game. That’s the moment I was done with that man. Yes he sucked as a coach but he sucked as a person that day.
