Our defense is garbage and Florida is going to stop Burrow in his tracks.

LSU has played 1 less game than UF, but your probably trolling.

They can help preventing the offense from getting into the end zone. That's kind of the point of a defense. Like I said, points per game is the best way to gauge a defense.

OP used total yards given up throughout the year?

Look at the top 10. Way to skew the stats OP

Don't be, other than last year, they have consistently been one of the top D's in the country. LSU got to witness it first hand in 2016 and 2014 and I think they were overall #1 in 2015

A defense's job is to keep the other team from scoring. Yards per play doesn't win football games, either.

Last week, LSU turned the ball over, and Utah State started their drive on the 5. they kicked a field goal. Was it the LSU defense's fault Utah State scored 3 points there?

In the Vandy game, Vandy recovered a fumble in the endzone and had a pick 6. Was that on the defense even though they weren't on the field?

Bottom line, taking one statistical metric and saying that it's the only stat that matters to gauge the strength of a unit is ignorant. But you knew that already
