That wouldn’t be that funny, but neither should it get anybody’s panties in a wad.

You would have to know about the Texas AM bonfire tragedy to get upset. Tornado are every year, with deaths associated with them.

The OP could have thought it out and phrased the joke better.

"Miss State Campus had major improvements"

It was caused by a tornado hitting the campus. Spokesman for MSU said "Thank God, it saved us millions"

That would have been marginally funnier, too. Maybe those of us who are getting upset feel the way they do partially because the thread title plays on getting people to think, until they read the post, that there’s been a tornado on campus. That makes some sense, I guess. If someone was sensitive to such news, they probably don’t appreciate the thread title.

He got me because it was right after I woke up. I would've probably got it had I been fully awake, maybe. Or not.

I'm not pretending. Tornado's have taken the life of a family member...I realize this site is full of many unsophisticated people...but that doesn't mean common since can't be posted as well.
It was meant as humor...so...anything that has caused a death...cars, trains, guns, lightning, falls, anything...is off limits. You live in a world that is just not real. I am sorry you lost a family member but life is life and a joke is a damn joke.

Just be thankful he didn't fall off a roof into a pool. You'd have two reasons to be offended.

My mom had colon cancer. No arse jokes please.

I also find it weird that Auburn fans get so outraged over tornado jokes about Bama/Tuscaloosa. Some type of Stockholm syndrome there.

I live in Lee county, Alabama (where Auburn is).

Beauregard (15 minutes from Auburn) was hit by an EF-4 back in March. 23 people were killed. If it wasn't the strongest tornado to hit the US this year, it definitely was the deadliest.

Cry me a river. I lived through Hurricane Hugo and Hurricane Katrina and you don’t see me bring it up every 5 minutes. Tornadoes are a regular occurrence. Alabama and Auburn fans act like they are the only people to ever experience a natural disaster. You are not a specially protected class. People can still tell a joke.

Go to Tiger Rant and tell a hurricane joke about how the hurricane came through campus and made it look better.

There was a Colts fan prior to the Super Bowl against the Saints that ended up getting fired from his job for coming to this site and making hurricane jokes. He also received quite a few death threats.

LSU fans are so soft....amiright?

This from a South Carolina fan?

Tornadoes have hit the MSU campus in the past. I don't wish it on anyone. And our friends in Tuscaloosa have seen the worst-case scenario.

I'm sure you thought that was funny in your head, but it was quite the swing-and-a-miss.

Considering a tornado actually hit and killed people in Tuscaloosa including a student a few years back this post should be removed.

HOLY shite THAT'S FUNNY!!

Here's some more fresh jokes:

Why did the Gamecocks football team cross the road?
Because it was easier than crossing the goal line.
*hoots*

Did you hear about the fire at Auburn's library that destroyed 20 books?
The real tragedy was that 15 hadn't been colored yet.
*slaps knee*

How do you get an ole miss grad off your porch?
Pay him for the pizza.
*holding side*

What does an UGA grad call a GT grad in 5 years?
Boss!
*rolls over with laughter*

Here's the best one:
Why does UT wear orange?

wait for it.....

wait.....

wait.....

So they can go to the game on Saturday
Go hunting on Sunday
and pick up trash along the roadsides on Monday!
*tears of laughter*

I was wondering how long it would be before someone pretended to be outraged.

“People have died from tornados, so no tornado jokes are okay, even those having nothing to do with any of the times people died. By the same principle, no jokes about: hurricanes, volcanoes, diving into a pool, falling off a roof, eating corn chips, or being attacked by a deer.”

I'm more outraged at how shitty the joke was.

I am sorry you lost a family member. I have lost most of mine, my wife and my daughter for different reasons. There are pains in this world, we all have them.

The OP made a bad joke that wasn't funny. For you to make the leap to make it personal is on you. Get over it or don't, nobody much cares if you are offended. Some care that you lost someone others don't but that you are offended over a joke? I doubt you get much sympathy and certainly not from me.

That's actually pretty solid. Change it to:

Mark Richt lost control of a bonfire at state last night and the best building on campus burned down. They’re not sure when they will replace the stables.

and it reads like SEC joke gold.

This thread is full of some snowflakes. Person A makes a terrible joke, Person B suggest its in poor taste and Person C-Z are angered at the empathy expressed by Person B. Man, what's wrong with all the soft people in this world?

Anybody who would ban somebody for a simple joke is soft except for very few situations like being overtly racist. Humor is how people deal with difficult situations. It’s why jokes that are funny are about controversial topics usually. Please get over your pansy arse self if you can’t take a joke.
