I see this one alot, but I feel like the '11 Bama team was better. No one except LSU challenged Alabama last year. In 2009 Bama had to scrape by mediocre Tennessee and Auburn teams.

I agree. If Bama didn't face probably the best club in LSU's history they would have ran the table by an average of 3 scores most likely.

I also agree. Despite Alabama's 14-0 season in 2009, I believe the 2011 squad was a better all around team on both sides of the football.

Honorable homer mention to 96 UF. Lost @ Ron Zook Field by 3 points but won by 32 in the rematch.

09 Bama had Ingram and Trent in the backfield, plus Julio.

They had a few close games that year against subpar competition.

1995 Nebraska had the most dominating season you'll ever see. No way they aren't #1.

95 Nebraska has to be #1. They destroyed 4 teams that year that finished in the final top 10.

Nebraska from 93-97 was absolutely sick, going 60-3 and winning three national titles (one shared). The three losses were as follows:

A one-point loss in the 1993 Orange Bowl to national champion FSU; an inexplicable 0-19 early season loss at Ariz. State in 1996 (an Ariz. State team that went unbeaten until that heartbreaking loss in the Rose Bowl to Ohio State that cost them the national title and vaulted the Gators to theirs); and the famous loss to Texas in the inaugural Big 12 title game with the 4th and 1 call by Mackovic.

That was a description of ALL of their losses over a 5 year period.

Yep, the 95 team averaged almost 600 yds a game, 400 on the ground...

There is a reason why "talent" and "team" are two different words.

Indeed.

They beat #8 Kansas State 49-25
They beat #7 Colorado the next week 44-21
They beat #10 Kansas 41-3
They beat #2 Florida 62-24

All four of those teams finished in the final AP Top 10.

I mean, look at these scores:

@ Oklahoma State W 64-21
@ Michigan State W 50-10
Arizona State W 77-28
Pacific W 49-7
Washington State W 35-21
Missouri W 57-0
#8 Kansas State W 49-25
@ #7 Colorado W 44-21
Iowa State W 73-14
@ #10 Kansas W 41-3
Oklahoma W 37-0
#2 Florida W 62-24

I mean, wtf. That's like video game scores. The closest anyone came was Wazzu who got a couple of late TDs.

1. 1995 Nebraska - the only team that I ever remember who went the entire season without ever being in danger of losing

2. 2001 Miami - Most talented college football team of all-time

3. 2004 USC - USC's offense wasn't quite fully mature yet but their defense was amazing and they went undefeated playing against a schedule with three teams that would finish in the top 10

4. 1991 Washington- One of the most underrated all-time great national champions in recent memory, beat opponents by an average margin of 31.6 PPG, routed a top 5 Michigan team in the Rose Bowl and blew away a very good Nebraska team in Lincoln

5. 2008 Florida- I know they lost a game but the way the Gators absolutely demolished the SEC during the season was amazing to see. Also had an incredibly stacked roster with tons of future NFL players. If it wasn't for the slip-up against Ole Miss, this team would be in the best ever discussions.

Nick Saban's squad?

Yeah. It was his first year there, and he tells a story about that game occasionally when he gives speeches.

Apparently Tom Osborne shook his hand after the game and told him "Your team isn't as bad as you think it is." in reference to how awesome the Huskers really were that year.
