Actually, I think it was another Hurricane. Hurricane Katrina forced LSU to play their home game against Arizona State in Tempe, and they also had to reschedule one of their other games.

2000 Miami was better 2002, they lost out at Washington early in the season by 10...Washington won the Rose Bowl that year

And every team on that list beat more ranked teams than fricking SMU did (which was ZERO)
