Second-oldest rivalry in the conference and most people on this board wouldn't be able to afford a ticket this fall.

Alabama leads the series with LSU 14-11 this century.
This century Alabama/LSU are 1st/2nd in most national championships and most SEC championships.
Prior to 1980 LSU rarely beat Alabama and bama fans love to talk about it (and Tennessee fans since they have nothing else), but over the past 25 years LSU/Bama has absolutely been a bigger rivalry than Bama/Tennessee.

I'm a BAMA fan. I learned long ago either lead or get off the road. It's like it already happened.

but sure.. we aren't technically in the SEC yet and we definitely haven't played a game as a SEC team yet..
Whatever floats your boat my man..
You might as well get use to being called not SEC for the next 5-10 years minimum.
Those are the rules.

You can see if A&M is having a yard sale soon. A little white out should fix it right up.

At least 40 percent if not a majority of Georgia fans were rooting for Florida against Ohio State in the national title game that one year
For the life of me, I’ve never grasped the logic behind pulling for other SEC teams, particularly your rivals in championship games.
Fans actively pulling for opposing teams in conference whose success correlates to your own team losing recruits and lessening your program’s value overall as an opposing team in conference puts another trophy in their trophy case. It absolutely blows my mind.

So, let me see if I understand this.
UT is 11-19 vs Alabama in the last 30 years...and NOT a rivalry.
But UK is 3-27 vs Tennessee over the same time frame...and IS a rivalry.
There sure are a lot of retards around here.

How Alabama’s 3 biggest rivals performed against them during the 3 eras of Bama football since Bryant arrived in Tuscaloosa:
The Bryant Era (1958-1982)
32.0%- Tennessee (7-16-2)
24.0%- Auburn (6-19-0)
21.4%- LSU (4-16-1)
The In-Between Legends Era (1983-2006)
58.3%- Auburn (14-10-0)
56.3%- Tennessee (13-10-1)
47.9%- LSU (11-12-1)
The Saban Era (2007-2023)
29.4%- Auburn (5-12)
27.8%- LSU (5-13)
5.9%- Tennessee (1-16)
All Three Past Eras Combined (1958-2023):
37.9%- Auburn (25-41-0)
34.1%- Tennessee (21-42-3)
33.3%- LSU (20-41-2)
While all three have struggled against Bama, Auburn has clearly been the most consistently formidable challenge to them.
Tennessee has really shite the bed the past quarter century. LSU was unable to take advantage of the down years and had a losing record against Bama during the Perkins/Curry/Stallings/Dubose/Franchione/Price/Shula years.

I have always thought that was strange. My auburn co worker said he likes for Bama to do well. I can't imagine pulling for Clemson in anything. Even if it helped SC I'd say frick the Tigers.

The only time it's acceptable to pretend to want Auburn to win is if you have Auburn friends/family over and they aren't playing Alabama. That's just being nice.
But really, you want them to lose every game. I think the the only way I could ever pull for Auburn to win over any team would have been if they played Notre Dame back in the 70's, 80's or 90s. But I can't remember them ever playing them, so that means I've never pulled for them to win any game ever.
And if they play Tennessee, I hope whoever is ranked the highest loses.

Auburn fans will probably cheer for bama to beat uga in a third national title game.

My philosophy on this is I generally hate Bama more than Georgia…. It’s not particularly close.
However, up until the last 3 years or so, Auburn and Georgia were essentially equals and Auburn was arguably the more accomplished program. Obviously after ‘22 and ‘23, that’s no longer the case.
I always root against both Bama and Georgia. If they are playing each other, at some point you have to ask yourself, “What’s one more title for Bama?” And then you have to realize you don’t want Georgia to get too far ahead.
So I reluctantly wanted Bama to win in the 2017 and 2022 title games.

This is correct. Bama vs LSU would fit better here, or maybe Georgia vs Auburn.
I would've agreed with you until two years ago when everything came rushing back. I would've even said Florida was a better rivalry at one point, but that sheer unfiltered rage at losing to Tennessee is something that can't be understood from an outsider perspective.

They don't actually mean this fwiw. You figure this shite out when you have to live around them, but this is typical Auburness. When they're cornered, they flash all of their charm in hopes that they can somehow capitalize on the success of others, or something... I don't really know but I'm sure it makes sense to them.
The Auburn cult is immensely underrated on this board but it's absolutely a real thing

Or... the iron bowl is a rivalry of convenience.
It isn't a real rivalry any longer.
I've seen Bama fans pull for Auburn against UGA on this board.
Top 15 rivalry, now. The hatred is dead. Welcome to Gen Z.

Name names. There is no legitimate Alabama fan who would ever want Auburn to win, even if it helps us in theory
