I don't have any issue with the rankings.

Something that jumped out to me recently was top 10 finishes.

Georgia has finished in the top 10 each of the last 6 seasons (AP).
11 top 10 finishes in the past 20 seasons.

I am exceedingly unbiased in my opinions on college football.

Georgia is my most hated rival but they have probably been the most consistently good program outside of Ohio State in the 21st century. Meaning they have very few down years. Obviously I wouldn’t put them in the top 5 two years ago before their national titles. Titles are the most important thing.

Which is impressive, considering the teams they have to play. Even when the east has been a little soft, Georgia has to play a juggernaut in the SECCG.

Auburn - 2004, 2010 national champs.

I really don't know.

There are so many variables it's hard to be objective. I'm not really impressed with Clemson's record, because the ACC is a farce, but I understand why you put them there.

Right. Except y’all aren’t 2004 champs.

Y’all got screwed, no doubt. But you still aren’t national champs.

If we had say, an SEC title or a playoff appearance in the last decade then I’d absolutely put Florida at #4. Maybe even 3. But we haven’t. So I won’t.

It's usually tough rowing when we hit Atlanta

2011: LSU went on to a NCG appearance

2012: Alabama won the national title

2017: Auburn fresh off of kicking UGA and Bama's assholes

2018: Alabama went on to a NCG appearance

2019: GOAT LSU squad

2021: Alabama went on to a NCG appearance ( )

You have 1 national title and several losing seasons. There is no way Auburn is considered a top 5 program the last 20 years.

Auburn may be a top15. Nowhere near top5.

Exactly, which is why the consistency is impressive.

LSU has plenty of trophies to display, but we also have more than our share of Auburn-level collapses.

Hard to argue with any of that. Looks good to me.

We did technically go 10-3 with a NY6 bowl win in 2018 and 11-2 with an Orange Bowl in 2019 but that hardly constitutes amazing years in my opinion lol.

Eh that's still some NY6 bowls and good seasons. I think you should count them since we did that for Clemson (at least I did, even that infamous Orange Bowl where WVU hung 70 on them). Playoff and title appearances are still worth more so Clemson still has the edge.

That 2019 LSU/Florida game was pretty wild, seemed like each team kept answering each other's scores waiting for the other to blink and finally LSU picked off Trask and that was all she wrote but the Gators put up a valiant effort, I remember being more impressed with Florida after that game than I was before it even though they lost.

If you extend it to 2002 Ohio State gets that 2nd natty included. They've also racked up NY6 bowls, Championship Game/CFP appearances, and had a 15-1 run against Michigan in the middle of that time period. Like almost a NY6 bowl or better every year for 20 years. I think they are definitely above Clemson and probably tied with UGA, and could make a good case for #2.

If you extend it to 2002 they pass Clemson with 2 national titles but do not pass UGA or LSU and sit at #4.

You have to take into account they’ve dominated a shite conference that has 1 national title in the last 20 years to get where they are. They’ve constantly beat up Rutgers and Maryland and then lose and lose badly against top tier competition. And not once or twice. They’ve done it consistently for 20 years.

Outside of 2014 they’ve been blown out by Clemson, Florida, LSU, Alabama in big time games. And lost the close ones to Georgia and Clemson again. When you see them losing all the big games and dominating their regular season year in and year out, you have to naturally come to the conclusion their schedule has played into why they consistently win so much. There’s no other reason. They still are a great program, but for those reasons stated, they would be #4 behind Bama, LSU, and Georgia.

Looks right to me. You might've been a little tough on the Gators. You are correct about their struggles in the last ten years, but the ten before that they were money, and 2 National Championships should put you in the Top 5, imo.

Ironic since there is no text in this reality confirming your statement. Including your own school not claiming it.
