Where?

KJ and 2 decent Rbs. I posted what all they lost, and as much as they want to believe, the transfer portal did not fill the holes.

top TE, top 2 WRs, a key Rb, top pass rusher as well as a starting DT, 2 starting LBs (which were 2 of the top 3 in tackles) as well as the back up, 3 starters in the secondary.

It gets pretty ugly when we start talking depth.

Treylon Burks alone was a HUGE reason for Arky's success last season. Dude was damn near uncoverable at times. And a lot of those times were on 3rd and 4th downs.

I see a lot more stalled drives in Arky's future without him on the field to convert critical downs when needed. He's just not the kind if guy you can plug and play a replacement for.

I still the Pittman os a great coach and will keep Arky moving in the right direction overall, but I expect them to take a step back this season.

I do too. That does not mean that they did not do well in the transfer portal, but the guy they got is not a Trey!

My reasoning is the lack of quality depth.

State won't beat Ole Miss under Leach unless they move the game off Thanksgiving weekend.

Leach's teams always shite the bed on Thanksgiving weekend. It's tradition for him.

Portal was very kind to us.

Now, consider the above... which you consider negative to
1. Portal additions from some very good programs.
2. We kept our coaches intact for the most part. Briles, and Odom are back.
3. Development: See the difference in the 2 years Pittman has been here.
4. Compare to the others... I believe we will do well overall!

I don't see you beating Ms St at Ms ST considering you won by 3. You lost a lot of production, and Ms ST did not. Plus you are on the road.

I personally don't see it... but that's why the game is played.

I mean we return our QB, 4/5 OL and 3 of our top 4 rushers. Replaced Grant Morgan with former 5* Drew Sanders, replaced Montaric Brown with LSU’s Dwight McGlothern and got Latavius Brini at safety who started games for Georgia. And Jalen Catalon is finally healthy and has all-American potential.

We did lose some good players but overall Burks is the hardest one to replace, on paper the other spots we infused more talent. Should have one of the best rushing attacks in the country.

I consider you did not even plug all the holes let alone depth. The SEC West is brutal! Depth is massive. Even we have a hard time when we lose players to injuries and we recruit at the top year after year.

As did most. And believe it or not, so did Ms St.

quote:

2. We kept our coaches intact for the most part. Briles, and Odom are back.

So did Ms St (since that's your issue with the list)

quote:

3. Development: See the difference in the 2 years Pittman has been here.

Same can be said of Ms St on defense and offense.

quote:

4. Compare to the others... I believe we will do well overall!

But let's do compare....

-You both were 4-4 in the SEC.

-You beat them by 3. You had a very experienced team, they had the youngest team

-You returned 9. Ms St 17 (most of them will return again next year too). You had to shop to fill. They shopped for major depth.

- you think the portal was only kind to you. They will have on the field this year Seven 4/5 star players from the portal.

Continue??

- RBs.. started since Freshmen year and return them all.

- QB.. start since freshman year. Returns... add 2 record breaking TX QBs pushing him.

- Most 4 star WRs at that school ever in a passing offense.

- Their complete DBs are now 2 deep and they are all 4 stars and a 5 star

It's not that your staff is not good. It's not that he won't continue building that program. It is that Ms St returns 17 starters and have a lot of depth while you do not this season.

How can anybody forget that a team that went 3-5 in the SEC and only returns what... 3 or 4 starters with a complete new staff?

Who is forgetting that?

I think you have a shot. You will have a better shot next year if Leach can keep that team intact.

I believe we are going to have a down year next year. Our defense is going to be too strong and I don't know that your OL can open up running lanes this season.

This. OP keeps saying that Arkansas only won by 3, but it’s a unique offense to defend and winning is winning (go back and look at how many close losses State had and their massive comeback against Auburn). Rodgers had an incredible game to boot (want to say he completed like 90% of his passes). We were also a run control team with big threat when we were on. I’m not saying we win west by any measure, but to not have us in the conversation for “top 3(4 really, as OP posted it?) is asinine.

I thought we were having that conversation.

I think TAMU returns more and has a better talent pool to choose from. But again, it's why the game is played.

I also keep reminding that they return 17 starters. Anybody who dismisses that is foolish. Are you telling me you would not love to have Burks back this year? Yeah you would. Not just due to talent but talent with experience in the system.

Had all of those players on Defense for UGA returned, do you think they would not be the odds on favorite to win it all?

Not only did returning 17 starters help in experience, it allowed them to build depth.

No. His head coaching record:

2019 11-3
2020 10-1
2021 12-1

It's not like he has not been on winning staffs either.

OC for Clemson. Tutored under Saban in 2011 and 2013. Also Under Jimbo Fisher at FSU.
