your shite thread really backfired. Maybe y’all can use some of that Walmart money and buy one of tulanes/techs or Sewanee’s SEC titles. fricking loser pig.

I think the best part of this thread tho is Bowl and Texag7 coming in to defend your joke of a thread. All three of which enjoyed asskickings at the hands of 0.

Hung out with Ryan Mallet at a Broadway bar a couple weeks ago. Before meeting him, I had heard nothing but terrible things about him (Lots of people from Fayetteville live in Nashville).. Actually was pretty cool guy. Once I said I was an LSU fan, we talked football for probably 20 minutes. Dude had a cannon for an arm.

Joe Ferguson is probably Arkansas's all-time at QB.

other than that it was butt smelling option for 70 years.

That's the one. Apparently you're one of the few LSU fans who have a concept of honor, congrats

Meaningless for a player from before the modern era. Dude couldn't earn a scholly at Norfolk today.

True, since he is deceased.
You think Unitas isn't still considered one of the great quarterbacks of all time?

Regardless, folks from Arkansas shouldn't be throwing out smack about QBs. Unless of course they are talking about former qB's selling cocaine and weed out of the trunks of their cars.

Unitas won a super bowl and played til 73, he actually accomplished something in the modern era.

Bert Jones is probably the most talented quarterback in the history of football, John Elway before John Elway, and he played at LSU

Unitas won 2 NFL championships, set passing records, won MVPs and is one of the Central figures in expanding the popularity of the NFL throughout the country ie Greatest Game Ever Played

I always wondered what NFL legacy Bert Jones would have left had he not been hurt (or been surrounded by better talent).

Those Colts teams had a lot of talent passing through, but they could never stay healthy for long periods of time. When Jones was there, he had Lydell Mitchell as his running back who was pretty good and was all purpose, he could run all over you and he was a good receiver. He also had Roger Carr who was a 1,000 yd receiver and Raymond Chester at TE

The Colts had the bad fortune to be good at the same time the Raiders and Steelers were ascendant and their defense could be suspect at times, but the offense at least through 1977 was really good

Ferguson was a helluva good QB......Woodlawn High in Shreveport, followed Terry Bradshaw.

You could make the valid argument that Bert Jones' 1976 MVP season was the greatest passing season of all-time especially when you consider the context in which it occurred and how the 1970s were basically the dead ball era of NFL passing pre-Mel Blount Rule

There was not much of checkdown type west coast game until the 80s. They threw the ball deep back then. A lot. Tight ends weren’t a big part of the passing game. I dont know how good a lot of these guys today and even montana woulda been back in that era. Plus those qbs were better athletes because they had to execute more five, seven, and twelve step drop backs. Nowadays the shotgun elimates the dropback.

I like both eras because they’re so different. Football has changed more than any sport because it has the deepest amount of strategy.

He was MVP once, not 4 times, he had more interceptions than TDs in his career and in his time at LSU only completed 46% of his passes.

I bet he didn't lose to Auburn in Tiger Stadium though.

Gavin Grey was undersized , but he was special. First team unanimous All American. Of course he had Lawrence blocking for him. What he did at halftime of the Alabama game in 87 will never be surpassed.
