The CFP committee needs to be a group of people that have no personal interest in any conference or team. And no current ADs. That would make it better, if they don't expand. The committee will never put an undefeated Group 5 team in the top 4 even if they blow out their opponent in every game. Just look at UTSA they are undefeated and not even in the top 25.

This is the basis of your rant, yet there is a thread on the MSB showing how the committee’s decision is almost entirely based off a formula.

If the regular season mattered, then winning your conference would mean you’re in, right now it doesn’t. You might get in if you don’t win your conference, you might get left out even winning your conference. It’s arbitrary and up to the opinion of the playoff committee. They decide.
If the regular season mattered, a teams standing would depend on their win/loss record, period. Right now it doesn’t. You might go undefeated and still get left out while teams that have lost get in. Again, it’s up to the whims of the playoff committee.
We’re no better off than we were 10, 20, or 30 years ago. Div I college football is still decided by a group of people picking winners and losers. The only thing that’s changed is that group is far smaller than it use to be.

the committee is basically saying the A&M team that lost to Arkansas and MSU (also ranked) is not the same A&M team playing today. A&M has gotten drastically better throughout the year. A&M could arguably win out and Bama's loss will be to a top 10 team on the road.

That’s great and wonderful. But that’s not what I’m talking about. If anything, it would be better to adopt the bracketed playoff system used in FCS. At least that way we would not be here in the absurd position where undefeated seasons and conference championships for some teams is meaningless while losing games and not winning your conference doesn’t matter to others.

If the rankings were entirely based on record, we wouldn't need polls, or anything. We'd just rank all of the undefeated teams at the top, then all of the 1-loss teams, etc.
The committee got it right. If you don't think Alabama would beat Michigan St. on a neutral field, then you are a retard.
My issue is that MSU shouldn't even be in the top 4. Ohio State will destroy them as usual. OSU is once again the best team in the Big 10.

Tonight didn't prove it it's been known that the committee is about as useless a a covid test.
