Which would you prefer for your team? Going 8-4 every year or having one NC season or NC game appearance surrounded by a whole bunch of awfulness?

Tubberville was overall the better football coach than both of them very clearly.

He had one elite year just like Gene and Gus did too.

And his elite year was more legit, no Cam Newton superstar or repeated miracles.

There's only been one real year of awfulness between Chizik and Malzahn with a lot of mediocrity.

I'm not disputing that Tubby is the better coach. I was more inquiring about which type of tenure you would prefer.

Tubbs defense always played pretty well. The other two = shite show.

I'd rather win the SEC and win/play for the NC.

Tubb's biggest asset is that he can hear everything that's said on the opposing sideline.

And his offense was a shitshow, aside from a year or two.

I still remember his last year where he scapegoated the new OC after 5 or 6 games.

But he still wasn't spared from getting fired at year's end himself.

8-4 every year? Did 2004 not happen? 2006?

Tuberville put together an excellent program at Auburn. The BOT and boosters fricked him over and he panicked with the hiring of Saban with his hire of Tony Franklin.

I want Gus/Chiz.

Tubs didn't do so well over here in Texas.

He was right to make the hire but didn't support him by letting him choose his own staff. Plus he barely interviewed Franklin to know what he was getting. Tubs was done with Auburn by that point and it was time for a change for both parties.

That's weird to say since you haven't beaten any of them.

Tubbs would beat #1 Florida...

And then lose the next week to an unranked Arkansas.

Or, lose every single 11:30 game on the schedule

All the while having Jimmy Sexton floating rumors that he was about to leave to chisel more money out of the Auburn athletics department

Ha, whatever.

11AM Jefferson Pilot games against Arkansas always made my heart sink. You knew we'd forget how to play defense and get steamrolled against some average Arkansas season. LSU knows how it is
