It’s not bamas fault everyone else sucks arse!
That’s what really takes the fun out of it. Nobody is stepping up to be challenge. It’s just a bunch of typical average sec teams that will end up getting beat by some big ten team in their bowl games.

Do you really think the rest of the teams aren't trying? Please. They told me bama fans were dumb, but come on...

There are 129 teams in college football. Statistically speaking, if it were as easy as bama fans claim, everyone would be doing it. When nobody else CAN do it, that points to something other than random chance. Or maybe something else is going on.

Good for Bama with their run. I hope they enjoy it.

But you'll never convince me that a single team domination, or repeating Clemson vs Bama 4 years in a row is good for the sport as a whole. For folks like us, we'll tune in regardless. For the casual fan, they'll find something else.

Case in point. Jimmy Johnson and Nascar. Starting in 2005 Jimmy ripped off 5 championships in a row. Something that had never been done before in Nascar. He won 35 races during that stretch, roughly 20% of the total. The problem with that is/was that fans became complacent with the product, and both attendance and viewership dropped in the sport. It put the sport on a trajectory that it has yet to recover from. (some people will point to the recession of 2008 effecting attendance numbers. And it's true that hurt. But the recessions should have nothing to do with people staying at home and watching TV sets.)

So don't see this as a post hating on Alabama and Clemson. See it as a post that is truly concerned with the path that NCAA college football is on. Given the CTE discussion that is starting to happen, if you aren't concerned with where football is going as a sport, you aren't paying attention....

So the coach who taught his fans to put six fingers in our faces is now crying because we have become too good.

Apparently you're not familiar with the term "clemsoning"...

If Tubs thinks they've taken the fun out this year, he won't even want to turn on his TV next year!

Then why didn't the Bulls dynasty hurt the NBA? The Patriots dynasty hurt the NFL? Tiger Woods' dominance hurt the PGA? Dynastys actually help ratings.

Back in the day, you either loved the Yankees or hated them...it didn't hurt the sport, just put a "face" on the hero or the villain.

A 4 team CFP, qualifying for bowls by beating cupcakes + Alabama has taken the fun out of it. Despite being 7-2, LSU season is effectively over. With no shot at CFP + no rivals, what's there to play for? A meaningless bowl game?

CFB needs to go to a 16 team playoff. It would make the second half of the season worthwhile and keep more teams in contention

Tommy misses the time when games were fun... like 3-2 fun. Bring back those days.

To paraphrase the open scene of Patton "Americans have always loved a winner ...always will" Secretariat vs Sham...that Belmont was packed, people still watch it on youtube. The ticket to the 100m Olympic finals with Bolt ...was like winning a lottery. Tiger Woods took golf viewership to new heights because people wanted to see just what he was going to do. He could be 5 back but you knew he was going to produce something momentous somewhere...Jordan and the Bulls. Is Bama in those categories, not sure to that level yet but I would think that if Bama and Clemson stay on track then the resulting natl championship will top the previous title games...and Tubbs will be watching

He’s absolutely correct. It’s not a good product right now if you aren’t already a die hard.

So Clemson hanging 77 on Louisville is a good product?

Tuberville would name the score against Tua with Brandon Cox. Stats don’t lie.

Yeah...I'm gonna go ahead and call BS on this one. People love to watch sports dynasties. You saw this with the Bulls in the 90s, Tiger Woods in the early-00s, and the Patriots and Warriors of the present. NASCAR killed itself with its numerous changes to the process of producing a cup champion - most of those being unnecessary changes - as well as its failed efforts to transform itself into an international brand. The recession merely hastened the league's demise.

I agree with Tubs on this one.

I'm someone that has always been glued to my tv every weekend watching every college football game possible.

I think cfb is pretty boring this year if I'm honest. It may be due to my team being a total shite show but it is also the playoff and Bama. I just am not that into it.

A long time ago, I really didn't care too much for Tubs, however I have been listening to his radio show in the mornings for the past few months on "Talk with Tubs".

The guy has so much college football knowledge and great stories he is a pleasure to listen to so I have a whole new attitude towards him.

He is on the "We Are Backroads" radio network. Check it out.

What about John Wooden's UCLA teams? Wooden won 10 straight titles. Men's basketball seemed to survive.
