Former Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville joined The Paul Finebaum Show on Monday afternoon and was asked to assess this edition of the Crimson Tide. In the most complimentary way, Tuberville stated that Saban has sucked the fun out of the sport this year.

“They’ve taken the fun out of it, Paul. Nick Saban has absolutely taken the fun out of it,” Tuberville said. “It’s not even fun to watch because you know they’re going to win. You just don’t know by how much. I thought Saturday would be his biggest test simply for the fact that LSU had some momentum. They beat the heck out of Georgia, and they had Alabama coming to their place. Everybody is saying that Alabama hasn’t played anybody as good as LSU. The one question mark I had was the defense. LSU is not great on offense. They’re struggling. They don’t have the athletes that they’ll have in a few years if they continue to recruit, but it was domination.”

Tuberville doesn’t see things getting much more exciting the rest of the way, either. Outside of possibly Clemson, the former Auburn coach doubts that anyone will be able to hang with the Tide for four quarters.

“So it’s really become unfair. It’s taken all the fun out of November, and the championship game. I don’t see anybody, unless it’s going to be Clemson, that might have a decent chance to play them with four weeks off and have a chance to circle the wagons.”

It's still fun.

Bama won't stop winning until Saban is gone.

We gotta deal with it.

Tommy Tuberville made the black uniforms fun to watch.

Nick Saban made it depressing.

I am so happy that Saban relegated Tubbs into the land of irrelevant Barners

He’s absolutely correct. It’s not a good product right now if you aren’t already a die hard. How many memorable games have their been this year in the conference to a neutral observer? A couple decent ones but that’s it.

I'm sure it was fun for Tommy's player when he peaced out to a new job in the middle of dinner at a recruits house...No one cares what this failed AU coach has to say.

We’re sorry we ruined your 7 years of dominance over sanction crippled Bama and the Mikes.

Wrong. Even after Saban leaves Bama will keep winning. Bama has dominated since the 1920s

So it’s unfair? Is Tubbs a fricking democrat? Should Saban start coaching his recruits the first two years and have the NCAA send some of his players to other schools once he has coached them up?

I agree that bama has always won, but the way they are winning is what Tubbs was referencing. It is different. Getting into the title games/playoffs when the late season loses in the past would have disqualified is partly the issue.

I doubt a diehard CFB fan would see it, but Tubbs isn't wrong.

You must have missed the early 2000s.

That is not what happened.

He was at a restaurant with SEVERAL recruits and assistant coaches when he bailed.

Tommy is a sharp business man...he made millions of beating Mike Shula and then made 7 more million off of Lowder when Nick blasted the barn in 2008.

Even blue blood programs have those down periods. Alabama has had two. One about every 50 years.
