Need to trade down for more picks. Falcons are nowhere near one player away.

Sounds like they're trying but no one is meeting their asking price.

This is an old, top heavy roster with overpaid players that is nowhere close to competing for anything meaningful. They need to be drafting strictly best player available, not drafting for need like that dolt Dimitroff used to.

Will that TE win you a super bowl?
Doubtful
That's way too high to select him with the players you will be passing on.

I was thinking the same thing. Welcome to the Falcons.

Who would they be passing on?

There is no one the Falcs can draft this year that will enable them to win the SB next year.

For me it's not necessarily who they would be passing on as much as drafting a TE at #5. They have biggen needs than TE, and as the previous poster said, TE rarely make a difference in a season.

That said there are more TEs making an impact today than there was a few years ago.

ETA
That depends on who was picked above him. In some mock drafts they would be passing on every single OLineman and DLineman.....every DB and of course JaMarr Chase and Devonte Smith. I think thye need any of those more than a TE.

And I understand all of this. My point is that unless 3 teams pass on Trevor Lawrence, you're not getting a guaranteed franchise QB. Ryan still has time in him, Julio is getting old but he changes the course of the game just by putting on his jersey. Hurst is more of a traditional TE and you've got solid receivers on the bench.

That passing offense is the one thing you can look at and say hell yeah. You can make an argument that they need offensive line and help at every level of the defense, but would any of those picks be smarter at #4 than picking up a mismatch guy in Pitts that will give Atlanta a shot to win every game they play in? Sure, the D will lose half those games for you, but the passing game would be sexy as frick.

If take him over every WR in the draft. A physical large fast TE will be open more often that WRs being covered by nfl defensive backs.

Sure. No arguing Trevor Lawrence won't be there. But I just looked at some mocks and many think Justin Fields will be. (I'm not sold on taking him especially after his medical problems, but...)

Atlanta could trade down, get a great OLineman and another draft pick. I would be good with that. And depending on the draft pick we got pair it up with a good DLineman.

Honestly, I do like Pitts. A LOT. I'm just not totally sold on him at #4. Maybe trade down 2-3 spots and pick Pitts and get a 4th round draft pick? I'm not sure if that's reasonable or not. Honestly, I am not a huge NFL fan, so I will have to bow to your superior knowledge. (I don't mean that as a swipe at you. I am pretty sure you probably know more about the NFL than I do.)

Probably not much.

I'm with you on Fields. I think he falls a bit tonight. I'd be surprised if Atlanta wasn't trying to trade that pick, but it's not always easy.

I've seen a couple mocks with Atlanta picking up Trask with their 3rd round pick.
