I’m not saying you are right or wrong. What I will say is that I’m old enough to remember Bear Bryant (alive and in person), and how it all collapsed after he left. It was a rotating door with hiring and firing looking for the next Bear…it’s happening again. Throw in the portal, which levels the playing field ALOT, and it’s easy to see the past coming back in the present.

When I think of Alabama, I think of 2 things: (1) running the ball effectively (2) bullying the opposing defense with the running game
I didn’t read all the responses because I don’t care enough. So sorry if it’s already been asked or pointed out.
But aren’t those 2 things pretty much the same, ONE thing?

It is a new era,
He is recruiting lights out.
Beat all 3 rivals. Got 2 deep in playoffs. Went to SECCG.
Any Bama fan that actually wants to move on and not let the man cook are pure idiots that yearn for doom. I'm middle aged. Stability through this era, and such a massive change after Saban left is critical. He has delivered that in spades despite a very rocky QB situation.
Yes, there were glaring issues on field. Duh. Let's see what the off-season brings. I am of the mindset some of these loudmouth Bamatards are spoiled and think that the SABAN standard will be eternal... and nothing else will do.
Well, I lived through Mike Dubose. I lived thru Shula. I know dark times. These are not those.

Alabama is ahead of schedule on a rebuild
i agree that DeBoer is a good, possibly great gameday HC
but he’s never stuck around long enough to actually build anything
maybe it will work out

I'm firmly believe Kalen DeBoer is on the hot seat entering 2026., and I'd say about half the Aabama fanbase agrees.
I was going to reply to you about how broken the Auburn program is and you should concern yourself with it, but I must admit you are correct. I think most Bama fans felt like the regular season was somewhat acceptable, but the blowout losses to UGA and Indiana put the whole coaching staff on the hot seat.

I also want to stress that this just is what it is based on how successful the program was starting in 2008 until Nick Saban retired.
I think it's exactly how the program has always been run. You have to go back to the 1950s to find any Alabama football coaches who have stayed longer than 4 years without any hardware to show for it, and you can count on one hand the number of coaches who stuck around for longer than 3 years with nothing to show for it.

The next issue you face is, who do you hire?
Not my problem or concern. Eventually they'll find the right one.

Since you are such a firm believer in the roster talent composite being the end all, be all predictor of success; how do you explain two experienced coaches who had had multiple 10 win seasons at previous stops fail to even have one single winning season at Auburn? Here is Auburn’s roster composite ranking each of Auburn’s last five losing seasons.
21: 14th
22: 18th
23: 18th
24: 18th
25: 13th
Top 20 rosters year after year after year and Auburn can’t even have a single winning season.

Yet......
I do agree with you. I watched the Indiana fans chanting "We want Bama" after the Ohio State game. Brought back memories.

Alabama is ahead of schedule on a rebuild and despite not having a running game managed to win 11 games on the 4th toughest schedule in college football, #1 by some.
You were expecting worse than multiple 3 loss seasons?

Just wait until he has 5 losing seasons in a row

Alabama had 2 regular season loses, and 2 losses while playing for championships.
And we did it on the 4th toughest schedule.
I've seen over 50 seasons of Alabama football. This was no where near bad.

I look at Alabama and the current RB on roster are not the problem,
The current group of Bama runningbacks is the worst RB unit I've ever seen at Alabama and I've been watching Alabama over 40 years. Same with the receiver unit, outside of Bernard, Horton, and Brooks, just awful. Haven't had a really great TE since OJ Howard and a lot of that is on Saban.

It's equally a matter of people not understanding them correctly.
For example a 5th year senior 3 star player is likely better than a true freshman 5 star. However, the 5 star player in his 3rd or 4th year should be better.
But people will just see "5 star" and "3 star" and assume the 5 star is more talented etc.
I think NIL made people lazy.
What I miss most from the Saban years is the standard the players held each other too. But that honestly stopped under Saban.

Ryan Williams says he's all in on Bama and I believe him. I hope he gets it worked out, maybe put on a little weight or something but he just has to get over the yips.
