This is the downside to having a high school gymnasium.

Of course, Auburn fans will brag about the ticket prices on social media, because Economics isn’t a required course to graduate with a degree in Animal Husbandry.

...and the "barn" door gate just flew open!

The thing Tuscaloosa never mentions is the arena plans Bama just scrapped cause they can’t afford it was for an arena the size of Neville.

well there's that..

and the expectations of a return to bama basketball after this big money team leaves in offseason and they look for their next assembly of murderers, girl assaulters, and domestic violence perps

I believe this game is on Feb 11th. You are talking about men’s basketball, right?

This. Bama fans like to ignore their plans to build an arena that seats about the same as Auburn.

Also, were their plans officially scrapped?

We used to have a big, airy old barn too. It sucked.

A lot of good memories in Beard-Eaves though.

I think most Bama fans want this to happen pretty bad,

It was 1,500 seats bigger (10,400). Which is ridiculous as it should be at least 11,000 and probably be right at about 11,500-12,000.

It makes sense. No season ticket holders are giving up those bad boys and their probably aren't many available in the open market for a normal game

Yeah not too much of a difference.
It really doesn’t make sense to knock Auburn for the arena size given the atmosphere it has created and the clear home court advantage. It’s a great place to watch a game.

Yeah, but you have to go back to the late 90s.

The only time I eye roll at the size is when Auburn fans then talk about how tough a ticket it is and how they sell it out without also noting that it is tiny and that if any other SEC program with semi-decent success played in a building that size they'd have similar economics at play (and sell outs).

In terms of the success of the arena and it's design/size, not sure you could hope for anything better than what they've gotten from it. Immediately went from an atmosphere that didn't exist to a great, loud advantage overnight (even when they weren't good).

The worst thing about Bama's arena is the end sections that aren't facing the floor. Uncomfortable as hell.

Yeah but that’s just what fans do, boast about any perceived positive. Gives something for people like Hunter L Johnson to bitch about.

I would say that it’s still pretty impressive for the midweek games though given Auburn being two hours away from Bham. A Tuesday 6 o’clock tip in Auburn can be tough to make happen for a lot of fans.

It's such an awful arena. The fact that we still had pretty decent crowds show up in that dump for average teams that crumbled down the stretch consistently for the last 10 years is sort of remarkable.

I still vividly remember walking in for the first home game against Notre Dame after the original "lipstick on a pig" renovation back in 2004 or 2005 and just being like "this is it?"
