Sark has been mentored as a personal project of BAMA since 2016. We all know about his troubling alcoholic background and Coach Saban was able to get him the needed support. Next came Coach Saban's insistence that he go to UAB and get his heart checked out as part of a mandated health check at BAMA. He was diagnosed and the doctors found out he was close to dying with a serious heart aneurysm and immediately had open heart surgery. That's twice BAMA has saved that man's football career and his life, people if you are keeping score.

If he had taken the BAMA job, provided he was actually offered, you have to believe his marriage could have been saved. When your state song is, "All My Ex's Live in Texas," and an Austin brisket and a huge slice of arrogance are all you can offer the little lady, that doesn't bode well for a healthy relationship going forward. Now you have to wonder if Sark can rise to the occasion once again, lean on his precious time at the Capstone, and continue to embrace sobriety and being a much better head coach as a lifestyle. Hey, at BAMA, it's what we do.

I’m not a Texas fan and I’ve seen dumb shite on here but this is at the top, especially considering how Texas did actually beat Bama, unmercifully, for sixty minutes on their own home field…….

This says everything you need to know. Sark beat an Alabama team early in the season still learning the offense. South Florida even looked good against bama. Saban took that team and had them ready to go toe to toe with uga and Michigan the last two games. Meanwhile sarks Texas team didn’t improve much down the stretch and deboer beat sark with everything on the line(with an inferior roster). That is why you don’t take sark over deboer

Byrne said there were conversations in his circle about a handful of candidates, but sources told ESPN that neither Swinney nor Kiffin was seriously in the mix. Texas' Steve Sarkisian, who, like Kiffin, is also represented by Sexton, was another prominent name mentioned in media reports, but Alabama's leadership knew Sarkisian wasn't going to leave Texas

We'll discuss this further at a later date. You need more evidence I suspect.

Why would we want the coach who can't beat DeBoer instead of DeBoer?

Yep . . . . .it is still debated whether he was one of history's more successful functional alcoholics or just a guy that like to throw it back every day. He actually tried rehab for a month in 1978 after some heart issues but was quickly back to drinking for the last five years of his life.

This is bait but whatever

1. I would imagine, depending on how much I put Saban had, he would want Sark to replace him. They seem to have a really good relationship and like Sark has said he owes a lot to Saban. I would imagine if Texas missed the playoff, he would’ve considered the job more if he was offered.

2. I do not understand the DeBoer hate outside of name recognition. Dude to Washington to a title game and is undefeated against Sark and Lanning with a significant talent disadvantage. Maybe he was a year or so away from being the next big name. The general public seemed a bit disappointed but people that know ball were thrilled with the hire.

3. Texas did win in Alabama last year. The same Alabama team that barely got by against USF, almost choked against Arkansas, 2nd half comebacks against a handful of conference opponents, and almost lost to a trash Auburn team. Saban was more hands on last year than probably the last couple years. Obvious there were cracks in the foundation and Bama started declining.

Overall I’m very happy with the direction Bama is in. Sark would’ve been a great hire too but I think DeBoer is going to win a ring before he eventually tries the NFL.

as far as any actual evidence ive seen or heard, they didnt. The only 2 coaches that the AD talked to were deboer and norvel, in that order, and the AD was in seattle the day next day after saban retired talking to deboer in person, while norvel worked out his extension and dropped out as a candidate while our AD was in seattle. I wouldnt be surprised if sarks agent reached out to alabama, thats what always happens when there is a high profile job opening, cause the agents can use it to wring out a new contract, but ive not seen anything that makes me think there were ever any discussions with sark or he was even contacted by the athletic department
