I'm curious to see how he does in recruiting while he's here because I dont think it will be anything crazy but he should find players for his needs.

Correct, it won't surprise anyone, but it will be effective. I'm worried about defense.

Mike Leach is great but probably a little past his prime.
He’ll still make Miss State consistent better than trash.

You see it is now well known and many coaches have already adapted that Air Raid attack.

This is true but I'm thinking he will recruit better talent at MSU. And yes, the competition is tougher in the SEC but he'll most likely be successful and I think he will be at MSU for several years.

Look at Dan Mullen! He did what he could at MSU. Now he's doing a lot better at Florida! Why is that? Recruiting grounds is a huge factor. Also it is not a Powerhouse school. Make it easier to recruit well and won at a higher percentage. Look at Orgeron at Ole Miss and now at LSU. Huge difference!

It doesn't have to take people by surprise. It's as fundamentally and philosophically sound as anything currently run in the sport.

Recruiting is very important but Ed Orgeron also has a much different coaching philosophy today than he did at Ole Miss.

I little bit. LSU is a well known for football Powerhouse and Ole Miss? None! It's a lot harder to recruit at Ole Miss than at LSU. Also Orgeron is from Louisiana. This is why more recruits will lined up to go to those Powerhouses schools first if they get an offer. If not accepted they go elsewhere for their second choice.

I'm going to go with 2 years, then you will need a new username.

Leach is one of the best “done more with less” coaches out there. He’ll bring whatever talent he has to their best potential and keep them competitive. This should help with recruiting and should see gradual improvement. Unfortunately at some point he will piss off the “higher-ups” and be let go.

This a long term haul with Leach. By not having a spring, I would cut the win total down for this season unless we got a couple of weeks back. I think 6 maybe 7 wins this season but in long term maybe 8 or 9 win seasons.

Any opponent that takes his team for granted could be in trouble. The guy had success where he has been. Yes, the SEC is a much tougher road and it may take him a little longer to recruit his type of players, but if they give him time, he will bring them out of the cellar to consistent better than average teams. I ca see 9-10 win seasons & bowl appearance on a regular basis. Will certainly look forward to his weekly post game press conferences :-)

He already lost two players to transfer to Ole Miss, but if he can recruit reasonably well, he will be ok not great. I like his personality but i don't think MS kids will. He is not in the Pac 10 or Big 12 anymore. SEC defenses will be ready for him.

You're supposed to go to the OT board and introduce yourself.

Meh. Bama and LSU defenses maybe, but they're good against everyone (or have been good against State regardless of the type of offense).
No reason Leach can't move the ball against OM, Arkansas, A&M, Missouri, Kentucky, and maybe even Auburn.
One of the players Leach didn't really lose (or at least because of Leach). Fabien Lovett was tweeting in December about leaving, when Moorhead and the team were getting ready for the bowl game.
Leach seems to be recruiting fairly well, even within Mississippi. He may not recruit better than Mullen or Moorhead, except for quarterbacks and wide receivers. He's definitely recruiting at lot better at State than he did at Texas Tech or Washington State.
