He’s a hard nosed, hard working, gritty, take your lunch money type of of guy.
Always the first one in and last one out. Studies film 8-10 hrs a day.
His dad won a Super Bowl. I think y’all got a good one.

He has potential. I talk a lot of shite to A&M fans about the Max Johnson issue but I do believe Jimbo could find a way to make him better.

He doesn't like to run/scramble. Very evident.
Yall only took him cause his TE brother wouldn't come to A&M without him.

We can talk about his potential, but he absolutely is more valuable in their QB room than in ours.

I was a fan but his arm is a bit limited in terms of the downfield stuff, and he’s a little erratic (I’ll give him a pass given the absolute turnstile OL he played behind the last 2 years)
He’s definitely a gamer and has the brains. Im sure Jimbo can get some more out of him but i doubt he’s the most talented QB on that roster.

His mechanics are less than desirable. He has elite athleticism, though.
It’s hard to truly grade him because he was behind a shite offensive line and didn’t enter the season as QB1

Max is a really tough kid.
I know that he is smart, but it doesn't always show on the field.
Arm strength is questionable.
Overall he is a good kid.

Max is a decent QB in the short to intermediate range throws. He has the ability to buy time in the pocket and even scramble for positive yards. He still has room to get better and probably will.
I'd be concerned if he made too many long sideline throws like deep outs because he doesn't drive the ball and has the potential for an INT. He also can't stretch the field with longer throws and teams will start to walk safeties up because they won't respect his ability to hit deep routes.

He has a lot of bad habits. He looks at the rush, he bails too fast, stares down WRs, wants to force the ball to the middle, the only place he’s accurate, will roll left immediately if the crossing route isn’t there, drifts back instead of climbing and shuffling within the pocket. He can improve all of this but don’t expect him to be a QB who can elevate your team because he can’t. If he’s in a Ken Dorsey type situation surrounded by 10 NFL draft picks and 5-6 first rounders he can might win enough to satisfy but he wasn’t any good for us. Don’t let the stats fool you, he racked those up vs rent a win teams. By the Auburn game SEC DCs had figured him out and he was useless after that.

Thoughts from LSU fans
Why are y’alls thoughts on Max Johnson?
He was ok. He would make a couple of plays that really let you see the potential and then he would use one of his patented " jump off the back foot throws with noone around him " and miss a wide open receiver by 10 yards or throw a pick. He also took a lot of bad sacks because he almost never saw the blitz coming.
Long story short, I think he got Jarret Lee'd by having to play before he was ready. Could be good but he has a few game breaking bad habits he needs to break.

In all honesty, I'm more sad about his brother (Tight end) not signing with LSU than losing Max. I have said it before, but despite his ability to put good touch on short to medium throws, he lacks a strong enough arm to be consistent with the long ball. Additionally, he lacks pocket presence and tends to be indecisive in deciding where/when to throw the ball. Has average (for a dual threat qb) mobility.
