This stat is why I've been so frustrated with Bama's playcalling over the years

Red Zone Touchdown Percentage Rankings
2008- 69th (7th in SEC)
2009- 107th (10th in SEC)
2010- 46th (6th in SEC)
2011- 91st (8th in SEC)
2012- 9th (2nd in SEC)
2013- 47th (7th in SEC)
2014- 17th (1st in SEC!)
2015- 90th (8th in SEC)
2016- 73rd (6th in SEC)
Bama's touchdown percentage inside the red zone has ranked in the top 45 nationally and top 5 in the SEC just twice over the last nine years. That's in spite of the fact that they have one of the best power running games in the country year in and year out along with a number of really good receivers (Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley) over the years How can you have Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Julio Jones and a really good offensive line and rank 107th in the country in TD% inside the red zone? When you consider how much offensive talent this team has, their red zone has been completely unacceptable and it's been like that for years. That's why I don't believe Bama's ever had a great OC during Saban's tenure at Alabama. A truly great OC would do a much better job converting all of those red zone opportunities into touchdowns.

We might be able to win some games if we improve on that.

i like how bama fans like to complain about their team.

Kiffin sucks but Bama is so good they win despite him treating the offense like a playstation game.

The consistency of being in the bottom half of the country in this stat is interesting and a bit frustrating. The red zone is obviously crunch time and the biggest difference in your scoring kind of like putting in golf.
Oh well at least we can say there is room for meaningful improvement for Bama's football team.

Because Alabama plays some of the best defenses in the country who excel in red zone defense year in and year out.
One of these days I expect Alabama fans will realize that the reason they can say they play in the best conference is that the teams in the conference outside of Alabama are really good teams, and don't actually "suck" as much as Alabama fans claim.
One of the things that made Bryant so respected was that he actually respected the other teams in the conference. He understood that playing against strong competition made his team stronger.

Yeah, what does Lane Kiffin know compared to an SEC Rant offensive guru like yourself...

Indeed.
How frustrating seeing a jim mcelwain coached bama offense get to the 5 yard line.
Was so frustrating.
Nuss wasnt any better tbh >.<

I honestly think that it is because our Olines have been pretty mediocre as a whole the majority of time Saban has been here.
2012 was by far the best Oline that Saban has had, and that is our highest RZ percentage.

What's wrong with this? I'm averaging 60 points a game with my playstation offense..

You need to include the number of time that teams actually reach the "redzone." I'd rather be there 100 times and only score a touchdown 50% of time than be there 3 times and score twice.

It was LSU fans who started the whole the SEC is down in 2007 and then in 09 it shifted to all of college football is down.

Looks like a good FG kicker would be welcome.
