and the NCAA cleared coach Cal in both cases.

No, that's not true. They didn't directly implicate him. Two very different things. Cal is also one of the big reasons the NCAA now has the coach's responsibility clause. The next time there's shenanigans in one of his programs (and make no mistake - it's coming), he's going to get hammered for it whether he knew about it or not.

I love how everyone is jumping on Adidas schools. Yesterday's sting targeted an Adidas school, an Under Armour school, and two Nike schools. I understand an Adidas employee was also implicated but this is not an investigation of Adidas schools.

Can we get a show of hands from any fan who honestly thinks their basketball program is clean?

Did you type that with a straight face?

Here's the thing. Most coaches are likely at least complicit, but even if they aren't, the shoe companies have a vested interest in getting the best players to sign with their schools and to sign their contracts when they go pro. It doesn't really matter if the school's staff wants to play ball or not.

For example, if Coach K didn't want to pay players to come to Duke, Nike would still want Duke to have really good players. Nike would also know that the only way that could reliably happen would be to pay players to go there, since top players won't play for free very often if other schools are paying $100k+. Nike would then step in independently of Duke, but in doing so would put Duke at risk.

That's just a hypothetical example.

C'mon Cane, as bad as we have been the last few years, how could we be cheating?

Actually it is true. He has a letter from the NCAA clearing him on Marcus Camby incident, Derrick Rose established strict liability we have today but Cal was never charged with anything. So keep pushing half truths.

No, it's not true. The Camby letter myth was debunked when all the Rose stuff came out.

I love the UK fans rushing to Cal's defense...the only coach to have to vacate more than one final four appearance....at different schools. I'm sure WWW is just a mentor to young men, too.

You probably think OJ is innocent.

Do any of you actually think if they had any hint of UK being involved they would have made UK the headline here?

Possibly. There is a lot of smoke that The U is on deck. There could be other schools also.

This is probably far from over. The non-Adidas schools are in trouble for those schools steering players to agents/money managers. The schools out there with the most talent need to be as worried as anybody.

Link to me where Cal has any NCAA violations tied to him personally.

I make jokes about Cal being dirty all the time but at least be factual. Cal has never been charged with a major NCAA violation.

Hypothetical:

Pitino gets canned today. Coach Cal jumps ship and gets an NBA job. How long until Kentucky calls Pitino about coming back to Lexington?

I'd hope Mizzou is or at least was until Cuonzo Martin got on campus.

I just can't accept that they could have been cheating and still suck as bad as they did under Anderson.

I'd vote for Kim Anderson being clean. Sorry, I forgot about him.

I don't see a letter in here from the NCAA clearing Cal. All I see is a fluff piece regurgitating the same talking points he spews when defending himself.

I dunno...I'd hate having to show unwavering support for a college basketball coach who has to defend himself on a daily basis.

This is a guy who had to vacate a 38 win season at Memphis, recruited his first class to Kentucky (with the help of Nike and World Wide Wes) while still at Memphis, and then left through the back door with said recruiting class five minutes before the NCAA showed up. He's as despicable as they come.

Yeah Kentucky is just full of warm fuzzy feelings for Rick Pitino.
