Why would Pearl get a statue?

If he was in his 40's or 50's. Bruce has five or six years left in him. Why throw away your legacy at a place you are the basketball history to go be just another somewhere else?

You obviously know nothing about the history of Auburn basketball. Research it.

Because it is Auburn basketball.
He accomplished something which was more than anyone else had before him.
Different standards for different schools.

Absolute failure by the Kentucky AD. It was laughable about the Hurley & Donovan rumors but they could’ve easily gotten a Beard, Pearl, Gregg Marshall, Pitino, Sean Miller type of coach.

Next time we have an AD talking about retirement before a coaching search we need to fire his arse immediately

This mirrors LSU’s (football) hire of Ed Orgeron. One made by, perhaps, the laziest AD the school ever had.
Passionate fanbase becomes increasingly tired with a national championship winning coach perpetually underachieving. AD eventually gets rid of the coach. In the search for the new coach AD essentially locks in on one guy (Tom Herman) early. AD thinks deal is done…then it falls through. So AD pivots and quickly makes a “one of us” hire of a coach that would have taken the job in a week, month, 6 months! There seemed to be no reason to rush.
Now, take a bit of solace UK fans in the fact that Coach did give LSU the best season in its 130+ years of playing football. Just forget that the program crashed immediately after that

Mark Pope proves you are wrong.
ETA After Hurley, Oats, and Drew turned them down, you don't think they reached out to gauge Pearl's interest? You are a fool if you think otherwise.

They could throw the bank at Muss? He would be a much better hire...

You’ll always remember 2019 though. It amazes me how ungrateful LSU fans are for that.

No, just proves their AD is a dumbass. Pearl expressed interest in the job and would crawl to Lexington. The only reservation he might have is Auburn might be dumb enough to give Steven Pearl head coach in waiting which UK wouldn’t do.

BS. Show me where he "expressed interest". Pearl hasn't said a damn thing about UK one way or the other.

so you have just been talking out of your arse on the situation?
Pearl has publicly stated that Indiana is his dream job. They inquired and he declined..........but he would leave Auburn for UK?

my bad. So you know him personally? That is the only way you could say "Pearl expressed interest in the job".
Pearl is at Auburn until he retires.

They could easily get Richard Pitino or Pearl and they hire Pope. Hell Sean Miller looking pretty good about now.
I think you’re wrong. Just accept the fact that UK isn’t what you thought it was. If Pearl wanted the job, he would have told his agent to reach out. UK was rejected 4 times before they got to Pope. It got to the point, that only one that would touch this job, would be a former player. Cal nuked your program when he openly talked down about UK and its NIL program. Cal even asked the Ark AD if he would have to go out and sell tickets? Y’all had a good coach and ran him off.
Nate Oates- publicly said No
Hurley- wouldn’t have took the job for $20 mill a year.
Donavan- wasn’t interested, and told UK to kick rocks.
Drew- Wife and family wanted no part of Lexington and that Toxic fan base.
Pope- only took it because he was a former player, and UK couldn’t get any better.

Nope. It’s was echoed by reputable insiders. I know it’s hard to believe a coach you worship doesn’t love you unconditionally as well, but it is what it is.
