I can see your scenario unfolding.
For those making any remote comparison of CLK to CBK, they are night and day in their energy and personalities. CLK has energy and personality. CBK was just grumpy, arrogant, and lazy.

Saban won year 3, Les won year 3, and O won year 3. Kelly had Jayden year 3 but couldn't field a defense. I only want Kiffin for 3-4 years based on recent history, it's all we need.

Not really. The fanbase was pretty split on Kelly, and lots of those in support were coping for not getting Lincoln Riley, who the majority wanted.
Regardless of the outcome, we at least got the guy most people wanted this time so the support will be stronger.
