The winner of the Alabama-Georgia game will be ranked #1 until the winner loses. We can enjoy the respite from the longhorn horn-blowing.

I know some want to chase the trivial "# of weeks ranked #1" thing, but I say good riddance. Number one is only worth something in January '25.

Who trained Sark? I said your coach knew, most of your fans are so unused to being good they’ve gone overboard.

Best case scenario is winner is #1, loser is #2, and Texas #3.
That's what the football gods intend to happen.

It won't necessarily be for a while. Texas plays UGA 3 weeks after the UGA/Bama game. Even if Bama wins and goes to #1, if Texas beats UGA by a similar or greater amount after beating OU, they'll likely go back to #1.

The use of the word "respite" implies a brief or temporary break, with the assumption being there will be a return to the prior state, specifically meaning that we will again be #1 at some point and you will resume having to hear all about it.

I honestly could care less who's ranked #1 in September. But things are about to start getting sorted out.

Look, after all the crap football we have endured, coming into the SEC and being ranked at the top of the AP (if only for a couple of weeks) has been entertaining.
Real football is coming. Let the chips fall where they may.
I feel good about our future.

Agree. Whoever wins this game should be number 1, though I still think it’s too soon to tell. For my part, I don’t care a whit what the AP ranks Texas in September. Let’s see what happens in October and November.

I agree the winner should be #1, but no way the loser is #2.

I don't think any Texas fan wants to carry the No. 1 ranking into the Cotton Bowl in two weeks

I go with Texas staying #1. They deserve it.

Texas doesn't even deserve to be ranked in the top 25. They've played absolutely nobody.
