Personally, while Ole Miss is in no position to be picky about its spot in the playoffs, I prefer to be seeded 5-8 to get a home game. As someone else said, the difference between a #5-6 versus #7 opponent is massive!

What's crazy is they have plenty of guys who have been around the game long enough to know better. Of course, with two token females, never underestimate how batshit crazy they can make everything.

Gotta win the tough OOC agree. It’s a risk reward. I think it’s a big risk to go on the road against Ohio St, ND, etc.

Oh, absolutely! And Kudos to Texas for doing exactly that. However, losing that game also cost them dearly. Win that game (Or more importantly the Florida game) and Texas would be in the playoffs.

I will say that the Notre dame win for A&M is probably only thing keeping us from getting BYU treatment though so perhaps our win this year is baked in.

It was a great move and win for A&M, no doubt. Lose that game and then to Texas and things would get dicey.

But again I think in general you should reward teams who schedule and win tough games OOC
Me too. But it also has to be taken in context with the rest of their games. Kudos to Texas for scheduling Ohio State, but the loss hurt a bit...then the Florida loss was devastating for them.
Beat Florida and Texas is in the playoffs and the Ohio State loss does not hurt them. Beat Ohio State and the Florida loss is chalked up to a fluke, and thye are probably in near the bottom.

This was a flukey year with so many teams finishing with two or fewer losses.

True, but the participation trophies for teams that will get crushed is silly.

Why the 4 team method was better. I could even go with a 6 team playoff.
You think this is bad? Wait until they expand it to 16 teams.

I have a gut feeling that if Alabama loses they are out of the CFP. This is a play in game for Alabama and if they lose it's not a punishment for playing in the SECCG. Alabama used their mulligan with the FL.St loss and a 3 loss team should not be in the CFP.

If Alabama cannot beat UGA in the SECCG, then what is the reason for them being in the CFP?? They also lost to OK, another CFP team in the last few weeks. How many chances does a team need to get to earn a CFP berth?

4,somehow, was less crazy.

Just make it 32. All the usual bigtime programs get in. Go slug it out.
