The judge who ruled Luis eligible? The judge who ruled Wright and Harris eligible? Both Louisiana judges. LSU fans themselves boasted and bragged that this is just how things are in Louisiana.
The players involved were potential LSU players. Should the proceedings be held in Idaho? If so then why didn’t OM follow that same course of action getting Chambliss cleared and seek a court in Boise for the proceedings?

If this is because the SEC doesn't like Louisiana politics getting involved, fine, and the other members are more than welcome to expel us from the conference over that,
You did a much better and succinct job of pointing out what is one of the main issues, perhaps the biggest issue.
The SEC does not like Louisiana politics being injected into the SEC.

So you admit that LSU and Kiffin did recruit them when they were still on an NFL preseason roster.
That is what the SEC is suing LSU over.

That's fine. Just don't piss on my boot and tell me it's raining. We can stop pretending this is about confirming the SEC's right to enforce it's rules. This isn't about rules.

quote:quote:This is another issue for LSU. The other members believe Rousse knew that LSU intended to break the rule and that is why he abstained from voting on the penalties.
LSU signed off on the rules and then proceeded to try and break them.
Wrong on many levels, but only one really matters...
At the time, LSU wasn't actually breaking any rules and hadn't broken any rules up to that point. You can't "convict" someone for "thinking about" breaking the rules at some later date (even if you could magically conjure up some thought police to prove such a thing actually happened).
Politically, you may be right from the perspective of power dynamics between the SEC schools. They might be tired of Kiffin pushing the boundaries but never getting "caught" (or punished) for audacity (or creativeness, depending on whether or not he's YOUR coach at the time).
But IMO that's not the case here. Lane was trying to be Lane and get every legal (if somewhat morally dubious) advantage possible for his team. Butthurt about that? Fine. But Sankey took it to another level, tried to show everyone how powerful he was and got humiliated on the stand (and under oath) when he couldn't define - or even explain - the rules that Kiffin had somehow transgressed.
For Sankey, this is now a blood vendetta against LSU to sooth his ego, and he's rage-baited the rest of the SEC into following his lead (pay no attention to the other SEC schools who broke the same nebulous, poorly defined rules with no consequences).
There was not a single rule, law or bylaw broken by LSU. They only thing Sankey (and the other SEC schools if you're right) have is that LSU was "thinking about" breaking the rules.
If THAT is what gets LSU kicked out of the SEC then it's not a "conference" any more, and the rest of the schools should run away as fast as possible because they could be next to get the death penalty for "thinking about" breaking the rules.

Then get leadership that knows what the hell they’re doing instead of being reactive
Sankey showed how inept he was during questioning
Also, enforce the rules evenly and stop allowing local judges to influence said rules

This is about as much “proof” as the SEC has to backup their claims.

Recruit? No
Maybe offer advice
And they weren’t the only school to do so

You typed a bunch of "but muh feelings." If this is because the SEC doesn't like Louisiana politics getting involved, fine, and the other members are more than welcome to expel us from the conference over that, but don't pretend that this is just about the SEC trying to enforce it's rules. No rules were broken.
The problem is that the NCAA has been made toothless with lawsuits. There are no rules at the moment. The SEC and B1G are trying to enforce some compliance with its member institutions. LSU with Wade and Kiffin are going to extremes. Look at the totality of it. LSU is making a mockery of it all. You can only look bad with your actions so many times before they bite you in the arse.

We will see how this all shakes out , but there seems to be high levels of hypocrisy , double standards, and butthurt behind all of this . The 2 main crusaders in this are the grandma from Tennessee and OM. It’s crazy to believe that’s the direction this conference has taken , but here we are.
Listen I know you have your LSU obsession agenda to get to so I won’t keep you, but when this is calling the shots and making headway against one of the top programs in this conference and a founding member since 1933 then everyone should be eyes wide open.

But it ultimately is about breaking the rules. It is about LSU saying I am bigger than the SEC and your rules don’t apply to me. And we will use the Louisiana court system to override the SEC.
It also doesn’t help that Landry invited outside investors into the SEC. It has not happened, but it was made clear that LSU would sell a stake in the SEC if it benefits them.

You forget about Wade?
You guys are doing it in both sports. You guys dont get it do you? You have sold your soul and gone morally bankrupt. The ends justify the means huh.

You just said it was about Louisiana politics getting involved? This is what I mean. It constantly changes to fit a narrative. Which rules were broken here? Please be specific.

The NCAA ruled them eligible. Not LSU. Some of you are out there . Like way out there

The point - again - is that LSU did NOT break any rules with THIS case.
And, point 2, is that selectively persecuting LSU for doing what other SEC schools have done (and continue to do) is a poor choice that opens the rest of the SEC up to countersuits for that selective enforcement of the rules.
And, point 3, if the only tangible thing the rest of the SEC can hang their hat on was that LSU was "thinking about" breaking the rules at some other date - well, does that sit well with you? What happens when the thought police come for the Arkansas program?
Nope. This isn't Cuba, or Russia, or Cambodia under Pol Pot. Thought crimes aren't a thing here. You've let yourself be rage-baited by Sankey into doing what he wants with impunity, while ignoring the fact that it could easily be your team/program/university that he comes for next if this is allowed to stand.

In the current world of college sports, yes, it does.
There is no moral high ground and you can’t argue moral superiority and “maintaining amateur sports” with a roster being paid millions.
