Auburn’s a bunch of mouth breathers? We have the lowest percentage of sidewalk Alumni outside of Vandy. Petulant? I’ll give you that but it’s only because we expect to win.

The reality is that Auburn is a bit delusional about level of their program and in truth, a bit jealous of Alabama. Everyone in the SEC wants to be what Alabama was and is... a dynasty program.
Auburn has a history of firing good coaches that have success on the Plains. They fail to realize that Saban is a once in a lifetime coach and are willing to burn down the place to keep trying to find another one. Just look at the coaches they have churned through....
Pat Dye (12yr) W/L 0.70% SEC W/L 0.62% 6-2-1 Bowl Games 3 SEC Champs (fired for NCAA issues)
Terry Bowden (6yr) W/L 0.72% SEC W/L 0.67% 2-1 Bowl Games 2 SECW Champs, Undefeated 1993 (fired 1yr after 10-3 SECW)
Tommy Tuberville (10yr) W/L 0.61% SEC W/L 0.63% 5-3 Bowl Games 1 SEC Champs, 5 SECW Champs, Undefeated 2004 (fired 1yr after 9-4, 2 years after 11-2, 3 years after SECW title)
Gene Chizik (4yr) W/L 0.63% SEC W/L 0.47% 3-0 Bowl Games 1 SEC Champs, 1 SECW Champs, National Champ (fired 1yr after 8-5, 2 years after NC)
Gus Malzahn (6yr) W/L 0.66% SEC W/L 0.58% 1-4 Bowl Games 1 SEC Champs, 2 SECW Champs, NCG Runner-up (????? 1 year after 10-4 SECW)

How many more years in a row of 4-6 losses until this isn’t true? It’s been 5.

I love the man Gus is. He has integrity, he's a good dad, and a great role model. His players dont get in trouble and they graduate. No question about it.
But this league is competitive and the most competitive leagues draw the most competitive men. He lost his edge somewhere along the way. Gus 5 years ago would have never sat on the ball 2:30 left with 3 timeouts or run the clock out in order to "finish or the game". That kind of thing signals to your players and staff that you don't have the stones to compete.
The game breaks even some of the strongest men at times and it now has broken Gus.

Gus ups are way better than most.
1 title appearance his very first year and a 4 loss sec championship season?
He has lost 4 or more games EVERY YEAR besides one. Yet he's led the greatest Auburn tenure we've seen? I think the ones of us that want him gone have a MUCH stronger case than the ones who don't. But by all means keep hanging on to 2013 bc it ain't happening again.

Gus has coached us 6 years. Though I am as disappointed as many, its really a dumb thing to fire him right now
In the 6 years, we have a SEC Championship, two west championships, two 10 win seasons and a national championship appearance. He did this taking over a 3-9 team that was 0-8 in the SEC
And he did this with his in state rival being on what is the best run in recent college football history.
Now I ask you, can someone give me another Auburn coach that has done that?
Nobody likes some of the stuff he does but his upside is good and we are in the conversation almost every year. If you think the powers to be are going to pay the above guy 42 mil to leave, you are just being foolish. Stop reading the click bait and use your fricking head
Its going to be Gus or bust for a few more years at minimum.

I appreciate all Gus has done.
He has brought a lot of success to Auburn football..
My problem is Gus created this situation he's in, and it should have never happened.
Go look at oline recruiting over the last 4 years. A major f-up.

Gus is trying to find his way back to a true dual threat qb where his offenses were almost unstoppable
So Gustav's master plan is to find the next Cam? A QB that comes around once every few years. How does he plan to win in all the other years?
Oh that's right, he doesn't. Your broken fanbase can see this and you can't.

Yeah those guys definitely contributed but to a much lesser degree than Cam.
While Cam was the most important overall player that year, Nick Fairley was just as important to the AU defense as Cam was to the offense. Even with Cam, Auburn doesn't beat Bama in 2010 without Fairley. Might not have beaten Oregon either as Fairley dominated their O-line and practically lived in their backfield that game...

Geez, some people can see his recruiting, no real SEC RBs and no futurd OTs.
But he has plenty of current turd OTs, and other players.

He's given us 4 5+ loss seasons and 1 4 loss season.
To answer your question though, he and Tuberville have very similar records and I'd argue that 04-06 was a much better stretch than anything Gus has done. There's was actually some consistency there. He also won the big games. Outside of two seasons Gus has lost them all.
And that's only the reasons Tuberville had a better tenure. I bet if I looked close enough I could come up with an argument for Dye and maybe even Bowden.
And I'll go as far as to say this. The only reasons Malzahn even made the natty in 2013 sans Nick Marshall, I'll give him credit for Nick but that's it, is the recruiting boost we got from 2010 and that offensive line which 2010 had something to do with. The further we get away from that year the more the talent is dwindling, and that's his fault. He can't evaluate first of all, and he can't even land his life blood: runningbacks, o linemen, or dual threat QBs. He sucks, it's time to go. 2013 was 5 years ago.

so are the rumors of a reduced buyout bogus or did that really happen?
By the way, 5 national titles in 9 years has never been done, unless maybe 19th century Ivy league.
